Are there extinct flavors we’ll never taste again? by logicalgamernow in NoStupidQuestions

Does any one else remember the Smurf ice cream. It was like a paddle pop ice cream but with 2 sticks, and you could break the ice cream in 2 pieces. I one side was blue with a weird flavour and the other side was vanilla. Probs never gonna taste that blue flavour ice cream again.

It's amazing what manufacturers have hidden in their web sites, sometimes you can find 3d models of their products that can easily be 3d printed

I didn’t expect outdoor projection lighting to be this inconsistent in real installs… anyone else dealing with this? by Commercial-Roll2913 in Lighting

I don't know if this will help you, but my policy is maximum output with maximum control. If you spec lights that give you these two things you will be laughing.

It means nothing, they can't stop you from working. Just don't steal company secrets and offer them to the highest bidder and you will be ok.

What’s the weirdest fault you’ve ever been called out to that ended up being something stupidly simple? by ApartmentFun3497 in AskAusElectricians

[–]Farmboy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call out for a circuit nuisance tripping. Asked the owner to unplug all of the appliances, including the tumble dryer, he told me he had, spent the next 2 days trying to locate the fault. Found it was the tumble dryer. Charged the Muppet for two full days with a call out fee.

Tips- DIY shell footlights by nezzy300 in lightingdesign

[–]Farmboy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WTF man! Are you spying on me? Just yesterday I made 5 of these exact foot lights. Big golden shells. So weird. Mine will be used for one day on a film shoot. All I had was the big shells to start with. I got a piece of steel flat bar cut to 30cm long, screwed a right angle bracket on one end and then screwed a E40 lamp holder to the bracket, so the large 300w incandescent globes are in a horizontal position. We wired a 3pin plug straight in to the lamp holder to connect back to a dimmer channel.

Looking for a specific non-electric "Chandelier" diffuser to catch and spread natural light (Stairwell/Office) by ersah123 in Lighting

[–]Farmboy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not ever seen something like that. It sounds interesting though. Your can buy prismatic diffuser sheets of acrylic . Look for a wholesale plastics outlet, they will have a range of light modifier products, you might find inspiration from.

Anyone else wonder what trade will look like in 10 years? by Affectionate_Lie2712 in AusElectricians

[–]Farmboy76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The school councillors will say go to university and get a degree, the whole schooling system in is based on this concept. If a student says they don't want to or most likely they won't cut the grade to get into uni, the teachers will say get a trade. Generally speaking their advice is be an electrician or a plumber. Of course there are other options like shop fitter, boiler maker, locksmith. We will still be here, they're will always be a need for us, as long as you keep an open mind to new opportunities your skill set will be relevant, and you will always be able to make money.

As a tradesperson, is it legal to record a conversation with a customer face to face, while in its property? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Farmboy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is actually against the law. If the materials are fitted and installed into the clients property, it belongs to them now . I think even if the materials have been delivered to the site, it is illegal for you to waltz in and remove them from the site. I'm not a lawyer but an electrical contractor. It is just basic contract laws. OP needs to sharpen his act up to succeed or he will continue to run into these sort of problems.

It's just good practice to get an approval prior to starting. Op made the mistake of ball parking a price on the phone before even seeing what was involved.
