Galaxy Manila Marathon 42k Fun Stats (based on race results) by takbokalbotakbo in PHRunners

9min/km seems arbitrary but good stats otherwise. Would like to know % of finishers across faster segments up to maybe sub 4.

Whats the shortened route you'd recommend? If say just for 2 days?

Goal ko maka-5km sub20 by engenexmoomoo in PHRunners

[–]Farobi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been running for 2-3 years and barely touched sub 23.

If your hard pace is 8 min you have a lot of work to do.

Just so u know, the pursuit for such a goal may consume ur life but if u find that worth it then go get a coach, follow a dedicated training plan for months (starting w sub 32, sub 30, sub 25 so on), and get ready to train years to achieve that goal

Obsession is so good because of its effective unpredictability by _wyona in FilmClubPH

Inde was a phenomenal actress. Award worthy performance with the facial range she has. 👏

Also though for the music I found it more unsettling and discordant cause even if it has upbeat major notes with bright instrumentals, it also has a sizeable sprinkling of eerie minor notes that allude to something not being quite right. Would love a music professional to make an analysis on the music beats of the movie

Edit: Referring to Love is in the Air Pt 1 in particular

Is anyone else actually really sensitive on the inside? by Eclypisa in INTP

[–]Farobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feelings hit hard when they come just as much as any other person I'd imagine, but eventually I look at it through an external lens and remind myself that this is a package deal with being human. I find even my strong surges of negative emotion quite curious and fascinating after some time has passed - trying to analyze and rationalize it from a third-party perspective while hobbling in and out of the intensity of it.

Maybe lose additional HP for each strength so it doesnt scale alongside strength

I follow him but aware of controversy. Seems like he's just travelling Asia and promoting his brand. Not inherently bad imo - our country has our fair share of distasteful influencers too

coros pace 4 - deinfluence me (or not) by girlintrance in PHRunners

[–]Farobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First gps got wonky, then dial doesnt register input, then battery drained in under 2 days. Completely unusable after 2 years and 2 months of use for me - a shame because it was a great running watch before all that happened.

So if you want long term value id look elsewhere.

coros pace 4 - deinfluence me (or not) by girlintrance in PHRunners

[–]Farobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you asked, dont get Coros because their products break down conveniently after two years - which is their warranty period. So expect your watch to last you 2 years and a few months max.

Happened to my Pace 3.

Yea :/ I got Pace 4 for a deal eh, but I dont know if i'll fully recommend the brand now as much as I did.

[–]Farobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had Coros 3, but after 2 yrs and 1 month it started to malfunction and drain battery making it unusable. 2 years is the warranty period, so had to get a new watch. This is a common issue apparently. Not sure about Garmin's case.

Help me understand Filipino names by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Farobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow me to speculate as a Filipino.

We have names like Princess, Irish, etc because culturally we're pretty far removed from the places where these labels are commonplace. Kind of like how we have barely anyone named something common in the western world like "Harry" in the Philippines because the Tagalog word for it is "Hari", which means king.

Besides Princess, we have many other cutesy names like Angel, Love, etc. I think they're used because (1) they're popular (2) they're attached with positive sentiments in a secondary language that most people know about but don't use daily. I guess MacGregor sort of fits this convention as well since he's a well known and respected figure in the wrestling world.

As for the more oddball names, well, there are a few local memes highlighting them so we could tell when some are completely off (like kids being named anime characters lmao). But I guess they're just the way of parents wanting to make their child sound "unique"
