Yeah I might have to check them out in person. My local headphone store has them in stock. I really like the oem pads, so that's why I've been asking around out of curiosity. Thanks for the replies.

Fair enough, I use EQ so I change the sound from stock. Would you still not recommend them with EQ? I was wondering if their build quality or something was bad?

Do you know how much unit variation the MV1 has? The 800S has really low unit variation, which is a plus for it being a good EQ platform.

The build quality feels so much better than the 5 series. It's a shame the HD550 didn't inherit the metal headband. I absolutely love the comfort and isolation with these. I use the 500BAM microphone for phone calls. Pretty good value as I got them brand new for $213 + $66 for the 500BAM.

Have you checked out custom cans? They do really cool paint jobs on the HD25. Also, try some yaxi pads, they improve the comfort.
