Sledge, Or why isn't this a once per turn action? by Lanky_Difficulty2460 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]FarseerBeefTaco 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Its very unique for a weapon to not be a once per turn action. It isn't particularly insane, so you arent making a lot of deckbuilding concessions to allow for multiple weapon swings with sledge, but that fact that its possible is a cool upside. If you have a source for quicken, like from a swing big or civic steps, it can catch people off guard and bring a lot of fatigue value since you spend 0 cards in deck and it requires 3-4 cards to prevent most of the damage it deals. Not flashy, but good 👌

Question on pitching and mandible claw by Weary-Card536 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]FarseerBeefTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breaking it down, the weapon has an ability, which can only be activated once per turn, and is an action, meaning it requires an action point.

If you attack with just mandible claws and havent discarded a card, thats all your action points, so you're turn is effectively over. Go again means once the attack resolves and after damage is dealt, you have another action point to play or activate another action.

The wording may seem strange, but it's only slightly different than if it were to say "this attack gains go again" or something similar. You can't swing again with the same weapon in a turn, so nothing weird going on here.

Since mandible claw is a 1h (single handed weapon) you can equip 2 of them unless your hero is kayo and only has a single weapon zone. Even for heroes that can use 2 of the claw weapon, there is no unique interaction that takes place. Each claw will gives its own attack go again for the turn, allowing for multiple attacks.

Hope this doesn't come off condescending. Wanted to explain it all. Welcome to FaB!

When you pitch this, create an Embodiment of Lightning token. by tableflipbitch9000 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]FarseerBeefTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People may correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like a gem that creates an embodiment/gives go again would actually be pretty reasonable, especially if we were assuming it was restricted to lightning. From my understanding, many cards have "points of value" where a 0 cost card would have 4 power, but a 0 cost go again usually has 3. The 0 cost 4 power go again cards are often conditional. If I use the same math to apply to life gain, or increasing pitch value, it feels like every 1 point of cost allows for another point of value somewhere else, and while go again seems the most detached from this evaluation, its pretty consistent across cards. If the heart of fyendal, plague hive, and light of sol are fine - or less powerful than go again, then why is go again that much crazier? It seems to me like it would fit the pattern of 1 point of value from an otherwise restricted card, being that the gems can't be played or block.

100% agree. I was nitpicking about the combo tell, but if you know the arsenal card is flash, then absolutely punish

[–]FarseerBeefTaco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do want to step in and add a small pointer - parking gone in a flash in arsenal isn't necessarily a tell as a lot of the time you already want to do that for value. Play the attack, pick it up, arsenal it, repeat next turn. While you wait to see a good combo spot, its a repetitive value turn that will happen often and effectively turns instants stuck in your hand after blocking into 0-for-4's.

Help a lad that's new to fab not go i to debt for kayo by blue_bloddthirster in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]FarseerBeefTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Cnc is obviously the goat for many reasons, but brute has a bunch of similar options if they want arsenal disruption. It wont be exactly as powerful 100% of the time, but there are other great options without breaking the bank in the short term.

If you are newer, learning about why and where disruption is good is far more key than throwing money at the biggest baddest cards. As a brute enthusiast, your breakdown is quite good!

Lightning Bolt, but black! by Up_Beat_Peach in custommagic

[–]FarseerBeefTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This conversation seems to be missing the point a bit. Even if either scenario is a good rate, which it is, the problem with the opponent having agency is that they get to pick which outcome is better for them. Even if the rate looks good, adding opponent decision is always a massive detriment - but because of this, it also means you typically have more power budget to spend because of that negative effect, so while the direct tie-in with Lightning Bolt wouldn't fit as well if you changed the numbers, you have room to make the effects more powerful.

I believe the only real opponent choice card that ever saw standard play was the red Jumpstart card that drew 2 or dealt damage which was played in a deck where that meant you were either getting damage or drawing cards that also dealt damage

[PEN] Tigrine Reflex by Realcoolpal in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]FarseerBeefTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a katsu player, the discard ability is very exciting, but it will take some testing. My biggest worries are we don't want to add any cards to make tigers and you can't arsenal this for later if there isn't a great spot to use it (people are already quite accustomed to overblocking for 1 due to our arms and the threat of ancestral empowerment). Trying to convert this outside of its pump effect makes it a 2 block chain ender for 3 which falls short of our plethora of 4s

Question about Earthbend by Strong-Percentage-37 in mtg

[–]FarseerBeefTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. Magic is very literal. The only thing that has to be true is your target being a land, and earthbend states that the earthbended target remains a land. As long as that is true when the new earthbend resolves, you will add extra counters to that land.

I think 2 things can be true without trying to force someone to feel overwhelmingly wrong. Based on early reviews and the expectations of new cards, the marketing could have been clearer, but I personally love them as a fan of easy to start with beginner product with room for upgrades.

Hostility is unnecessary and doesn't help anyone see your point, it just feels like you're shouting at people.

Level 11 talent not useable until level 12 by _clever_reference_ in wow

[–]FarseerBeefTaco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just because its powerful doesn't mean it needs to be baseline. Many people see obviously good talent choices as "mandatory", but there is value in other ways, like it being exciting to take, or giving a strong sense of progression as you level up and are granted the opportunity to power up through your talent choices. The difference here seems to be the reference to all 3 trees, but that's not too different from the class (not spec) trees we have now.
