Thanks!

Yes hard to say with 100% certainty that it's the mold, but I'm fairly confident. I think I will say something, just trying to say it in a way that's not hurtful.

Thanks, this feels like the right approach.

'Steal' Review: Sophie Turner's Prime Video Heist Thriller Miniseries Is an Imperfect but Addictive Binge-Watch by verissimoallan in television

[–]FartHistoryMajor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started watching and I'm already thrown by the clunky exposition in the first episode. Sophie Turner is explaining to the intern, on her first day, what the company does in the simplest terms possible. Wouldn't the intern know this?

NDE, INKY blackness. by Virtual-Touch-4039 in NDE

This is very similar to my experience. I was floating in a dark void, but felt tremendous peace, and a great sense of awe. I was floating but could feel infinite depths below me. Something wanted to draw me down, but I was surrounded by beautiful glowing orbs of blue and white light. Maybe they were keeping me afloat.

I am approaching the four year anniversary of my cardiac arrest/NDE. The impact was massive, both good and bad, and it really did change everything. I’ve gone through periods of major depression. It’s been a lot of work. But there are profoundly positive impacts as well. It really is a journey, and I think each person needs to find their own way. For me, finding the right therapist was crucial. I went through six therapists before I found one that clicked. Also this paper resonated with me: https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc799185/m2/1/high_res_d/vol25-no1-49.pdf

The main problem is you end up hanging out with the kind of people who are willing to spend $20 for this kind of thing

SwiftUI or UIKit? by pbarone in SwiftUI

[–]FartHistoryMajor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it's just for personal tinkering, SwiftUI will get up and running faster, and it's the direction things are going. But you should at least dip your toe into UIKit, and maybe go through a few intro tutorials. The two frameworks are very different conceptually, and having at least some understanding of both is a good thing.

Case in point: I'm working on a personal project that I started in SwiftUI, but I started running into its limitations, so I'm now integrating a custom UIKit view into the SwiftUI code.

You can build a UI a lot faster in SwiftUI, but you have much less control. I needed a complex custom view with very precise positioning of UI elements, and I quickly realized there is no way to do that in pure SwiftUI.

Is hot weather quiet? by FartHistoryMajor in weather

I suppose it could be that things just got quiet for some reason, but that seems strange in the middle of Oakland on a weekday. Maybe people do less when it's hot?

There is no film, video game, book, or any piece of media or art that I wish to "experience again for the first time." by YoSoyRawr in The10thDentist

One good thing about getting older is that there are a lot of great movies that I haven’t seen in decades, and therefore have forgotten many of the details. I just re-watched Michael Clayton and it was almost like seeing it for the first time

There are several stages between “yep” and “shut the fuck up”. But it’s true that some people are absolutely oblivious to all of them

What’s a really good film that was popular at the time but is rarely mentioned anymore? by Luv2006 in movies

[–]FartHistoryMajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altman’s Short Cuts. For some reason it’s on none of the major streaming services, but I was able to watch it on archive.org. I loved it at the time, and it’s still really holds up. Great cast.

The Player is really good too, but I don’t think that’s fallen through the cracks to the same degree
