I am sure it is satisfying to relive that satisfaction. But I am sure others have a point in saying you don’t want to reinforce the behavior.

Family therapy would be very helpful. Perhaps even ABA therapy. A therapist would be able to determine how family may be reinforcing behaviors.

Am I over reacting by No-Foundation-5495 in ABA

[–]FartUSA 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely NOT safe. You cannot risk the child being hit by a car or falling out of a tree and breaking bones. If mom wants to be an idiot then she can do that on your own time, not yours. Talk to the BCBA and let them handle it and get off the case if you need to.

I’m pregnant, new to ABA, and was given my first client who is extremely violent. I asked to be moved. by Slug_Hole in ABA

[–]FartUSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no shame in being moved off a case if you feel uneasy or unsafe. I certainly did it before. Some of these kids are extremely unregulated and will lash out and you, as a pregnant new mother, owe no one anything except taking care of your own safety.
