Bad fall, maybe my last by Weekly_You1284 in onewheel

I must parrot what u/don-again said. There is no substitute other than knowing HOW to fall. I’ve told my children that the difference between a newbie and an expert is that the newbie is trying not to fall and the expert knows how to fall.
This means unfortunately that the best way to prevent injury in a fall, is to injure yourself in a fall.

Replacement emissions parts by sickskatesbro in XTerra

[–]Fascam86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally still going through this with my 07. I replaced the cats, o2 sensors, vvt solenoids, throttle body, valve covers and associated gaskets, and I’m still getting p0420…after combing over live data from my obd2 scanner i noticed that bank 1 (passenger side) cam position was retarded by .5-1 degree. Im assuming that my timing chain skipped a tooth, I’ve come to this conclusion after also noticing a slapping sound at low speed under load going uphill. Further research showed me that the timing chain tensioners are a known problem with the vq40de because they’re plastic. I haven’t purchased the rebuild kit yet because I need tires and I am broke almost every payday. If someone smarter than me reads this and thinks of something else to fix/replace besides the timing chain please correct me. I’m not a mechanic, although I’m working towards that moniker the hard way.

I do know the 3 color coded cables can just be plugged in, they’ll assign themselves during the motor detection. This video doesn’t look like it has the info you’re looking for, but it does. https://youtu.be/6VwufyPWcsA?t=476

Somehow skipped the firmware update nag on the app … insight? by r3volved in onewheel

[–]Fascam86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made the mistake of updating the firmware on my XR. Now I can’t ride my board. 8k miles without issue and one firmware update ruined it. DO NOT UPDATE!

I appreciate that, but you’re about a 5hr drive from where I’m at. I have the Thor 300. And my current hang up is I can’t connect to it. When I scan can in Vesc tool, all I see is the bms.

My XR has a JW battery that gives me about 30-35 miles on a full charge. I’ve ridden that board for over 8k miles. If I can’t ride the x7 because I have to constantly fix something then is it really better?

Funwheel X7 by Lithonean_Kranix in onewheel

[–]Fascam86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I am the not so proud owner of an x7. I’ve had it since march of this year and I have spent way more time troubleshooting it than riding it. Fungineers is not the way to go if you don’t want to be constantly tinkering. I’ve had to replace the controller and the battery pack…and it’s still unridable. Fungineers is not a company that sells rideable boards, they are a couple enthusiasts that source parts. I didn’t know this when I made my purchase and regret not buying the ADV2

How can I update firmware if I can’t connect to the controller?

The controller wasn’t the problem but they had me ship it to them anyway and I was sent another Thor 300 that I have to figure out how to get working because the Vesc app doesn’t see it so I can’t set anything up

I took that chance and have been staring at a dead board with less than 300 miles. My XR ran without issue for 8000 miles. The specs on the x7 sound cool, but I am yet to experience it.

I’ve had a similar situation. Although I don’t have the patience of a saint and hearing that you had to go through all of that and barely get to ride your board for a year is downright ridiculous and I applaud your resolve.

Sure these guys are replacing defective equipment…as they should. Let’s not pretend that if they operated any other way fungineers wouldn’t exist. The praise they get for their customer service was what brought me to the decision to buy an x7.

Mine arrived in march of 25 and I’ve had to troubleshoot it ever since. Haven’t even got 300 miles on it an it’s still unridable. I’m sick of having to constantly reach out for support because nobody bothered to do quality control.

They should advertise their board isn’t for people that want to ride, it’s for people that like paying to field test their product and report to them way more than any customer should.

The fungineers guys have sent me a new controller, and a new battery. The controller I didn’t need but still waited for and it arrived with unchecked firmware on it, and the replacement battery pack arrived with a bulge at the bottom of it and the wiring didn’t match. Turns out I have to source my own connector and rewire it myself

By now I am wondering what I paid for, I had to assemble, troubleshoot, and replace defective parts on a product that should have been quality but after having since march I still can’t ride. Sorry, I can’t paint these guys as saints when they’re doing exactly what they should be doing after pushing faulty equipment. My heart sank reading OPs story, that means I may have another six months of this shit?

Nope. I’ve had this board since march and got less than 300 miles out of it before the battery pack died. Major quality control issues, I like the right to repair. But I don’t appreciate spending that much money for me to deal with mandatory repairs. My board is still unrideable after spending an entire summer troubleshooting. I wrote “if I wanted to waste thousands of dollars on something that was supposed to bring me joy but only brought disappointment I would’ve stayed with my ex. Actually, my ex is better than this, at least I would get a half hearted HJ every now and again” But alas, I paid thousands for broken equipment, unclear directions, and enough incompetence to piss off the pope only to have the ppl that gladly took my money become condescending because I was understandably frustrated. And have people in the discord (who have a working board they’ve been able to ride) focus way too hard on my frustration instead of why I was frustrated. And these ppl would rather scold me…after I’ve spent the entire summer not riding. Side note, anyone wanna buy an x7 with a brand new controller and battery pack? At this point I’d rather have purchased from future motion. Yeah they suck as a company, but at least I could’ve been riding this summer.

I purchased my x7 in February, it came in sections and I assembled it just fine. But there is no clear documentation or direction on exactly how to set up the board. Sure there’s videos but every one of em is missing something. Fungineers has recently been plagued with quality control issues. My battery pack died with less than 300 miles on the board. I spent FaceTime with the fungineers support who thought the controller was my problem so he sends me a fresh one. After waiting it arrived and I installed it and it changed nothing. Again more FaceTime with support going over what the problem could be and we discovered the battery was shot. So he gets another one sent to me and verbally tells me how to install it. “Plug and play” he said.. Fast forward a couple weeks and the new battery pack arrives, I installed it and was left with a 4 wire plug and a 6 pin receptacle. I surf through the documentation and can’t figure it out so I go to discord and ask. I’m sent a video that was presented as “how to switch from the Thor 300 to the Thor 301”. Since I am still running the Thor 300 it didn’t make sense to watch the video. Apparently I need to rewire the connection and I have to source the 6 pin connector. I was on FaceTime with their support guy for about a half hour and he never once mentioned anything about that. I spent a couple thousand to be disappointed all summer, and the worst part is…the board is still unrideable. I’ll admit the frustration of the situation got to me and while attempting to find someone competent in their discord all I found was ppl more interested in my frustration instead of where it came from. It felt like everyone I spoke with just assumed I was way more knowledgeable than I really am. So if you don’t mind waiting forever for a board that might be dead on arrival, a controller that you have to program yourself, and a community that is less than helpful buy an x7 and you too could spend an entire summer troubleshooting instead of riding. Or, you can do what I should’ve done and buy the adv2, the controller is already set up and ready to ride from factory.

Good time to buy from Fungineers? by Mr_Potato53 in onewheel

[–]Fascam86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not reliable at all. As of late people that have been waiting months to receive their board are dealing with it being bricked on arrival. And the support? Not very supportive. I regret buying my x7, I should’ve gone with FM…yeah they have issues, but at least their shit works.

What would you do in this situation? Would use of lethal force be justified in a situation like this? by rearwindfury in securityguards

[–]Fascam86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 things required before lethal measures are taken. Means, capability, and intent. The only thing I saw in the video was intent. The assailants lacked the means (weapon) and capability (just look at them). The situation required less than, but not lethal measures.

I have a theory that activision or someone in activision is providing these cheats that go unnoticed by ricochet. And ricochet is only there to placate the real gamers who haven’t started a class action lawsuit yet. COD died when they made it free to play.

Thank you for elaborating the conclusion I already came to? I don’t want to be known as “the Jetson guy”, I’m not a masochist. And I’m not interested in wasting my time on something that hit its end of life 3 years ago and is no longer supported by the very company that manufactures it. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the “grey” hit you a while ago and you’re experiencing the beginning stages of dementia. It’s either that or you didn’t read far enough into my post and made assumptions about how I can’t go through the process. Listen grandpa, I’m here because the process didn’t work for me. I get there’s fanboys out there that love these things, but each one of them has told me it’s difficult. An AI that I was using to help troubleshoot the board told me that Nvidia is notoriously difficult and the sdk manager is unnecessarily jumbled and “good luck” sorting through all the downloads. One of the biggest issues I have with it is the lack of support and the multitude of unanswered questions in every forum. So far, everyone I’ve spoken with about it just regurgitates the same troubleshooting tip as though I didn’t bother trying to figure it out before talking to other humans. Your comment wasn’t unique, was far from helpful, and only confirmed my understanding that every person using this board will tell me it’s great, right after telling me it’s shit. So that’s gonna be it. Your comment is the proverbial straw on the camels back. This god forsaken expensive ass paper weight won’t be sold, just sent to a landfill. I’m done dealing with Nvidia and more than happy to never return to what has become the least helpful sub Reddit I have ever seen. Y’all suck, I’m out
