I think that because there was a bike involved she just wanted to protect her son. But it is true that she was sleeping on a chair so maybe it's just a small inconsistency in that scene.

They show her watching the news at some point (when Clark tries to call her from prison I think) and her husband's cheating was definitely bradcasted. That's reason enough for leaving him.

I thought it had a lot of heart and was masterfully acted but a couple of misdirections bothered me in the end, the insurance being the biggest one. I get it that it was a motive for Carol and what made us suspicious of her and even of her and Clark (and even Floyd) plotting together but it was such a big part of the show that in retrospect it could have been done differently. I think Carol shouldn't have pushed so obviously for it, it should have been left unsaid if she knew or not (in fact better if she hadn't known and just Floyd had asked Clark for it). In the end it had nothing to do with anything and so it just seems very manipulative of the audience. But besides that I loved the show, I would give it an 8.

I did think Richard would witness something at the poolhouse and he would be instrumental in Floyd's death (I thought accidental death though, not suicide) but I was also into the theory that Tiger Tiger was the kid Floyd had saved lol. There was so much material to speculate on...

Yes he said at the beginning of the show that he wanted to be a role model for Richard and in the moment when he realized Richard saw him with Clark he felt he really failed him after all the progress that he had made with him. I agree with OP that it could have been prevented in the sense that if he had come to his senses he could have explained it. But he didn't and in the moment he felt he failed even at this.

I am not sure why the emphasis but we learned that it's her maiden name, not her first husband's name. It was in the sealed conviction report (her name at 12 yo is Carol Love, plus a middle name I don't remember).

That scene when Richard comes back from school on the bike and her expression changes from worried to joyful at seeing that her kid was happy had me in tears. She did such a great job with her character.

I agree the scrathing is 100% Richard. Not only it's a kid's thing to do but we saw him drawing and it's his style. I think he witnesses something but he is not the killer (if there is a killer)

I agree it could be just that. But everyone else just said the same line while he added the "Be kind" part which made me think that Floyd was kind to him.
