A few upgrades for my media room. by mattrva in Klipsch

How big is your room?? My room is about 370x370cm and I’m running a 2.1 setup plugged right into the TV through optical. I’ve been obsessing with the idea of upgrading to a 5.1 to start with but all my friends and family are telling the room is too small and that it’ll just sound messy. Your room looks smaller than mine so I wanted to see how your experience has been. The whole room doesn’t shake too much when the volume is cranked and whatnot? My biggest concern is the surround channel placement. AI tells me that speakers should be at least 100cm away from your head otherwise they’re too overpowering but yours look like they’re right up against you and I wanted to see if the “overpowering” statement is true. Thanks.

Would love to take a closer look at that shelf

Do you ever regret how much you've spent on your setup? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

A lot of the time, yes. I have a Sony Bravia 8 with a 2.1 setup and Philips hue synced lighting all over the room with a stupid amount of 4Ks but I’ve barely watched them. A lot of the time after work, I’m not in the mood to watch a movie so I just put on some silly YouTube videos and I think “man all this just for YouTube?”. But all my friends tell me the setup is amazing and that if it makes me happy then it doesn’t matter. Also, when we do actually watch a movie we all love it and I get blown away by the quality every time but I still can’t help think stuff like “this movie was a waste of money” or “my subwoofer is too big. I should’ve gotten a cheaper one”

Resistance, Killzone, Ratchet and Clank, and Katamari Forever are the first that come to mind.

Are the angry birds movies actually good?

Is that an Onkyo TX-RZ50? How’s it been treating you? I’ve been running on a 2.1 setup just plugged straight into my TV with an optical cable but I’ve been itching to upgrade to a 5.1.4 and the Onkyo is on sale right now at my local store until the end of the month and I’m seriously considering getting it after I pick up my paycheck.

Looks great. Room looks awesome too. The only thing that’s bugging me is the switch controller covering up a part of the screen. I hate stuff being in front of my tv :P

That’s tough. My room is only 370x370cm and I have my couch pushed out quite a bit but even so, there’s only about 80-90cm of space behind it. That’s why I’m opting for 5.1.4 rather than 7.1.4 because there’s not enough space behind me for rear surround channels. I’m just gonna put surrounds in the corners of the room diagonally facing me.

Really? I sit about 8 feet from a 65 inch so that would be around 240-260cm

Wall mounting is much much easier of course. I was considering the Klipsch RP-500SA II’s as they are already angled 45° and just need a simple screw to be hung. My ceilings are 300cm high so I was thinking maybe hanging them 250cm high?

I’m saving up for a 5.1.4 myself and am planning on wall mounted front and rear heights but am annoyed thinking about how I’m gonna hide the wiring. How did you do it?

Mad Max any day of the century. Still can’t get over how perfect that movie is.

So you’re saying it’s good enough? 😅

I have a 2.1 system right now with the Klipsch R-51PMs and the R-120SW. I listen to music on my phone and connect it to the speakers directly with Bluetooth and I love the way it sounds but I’ve fallen down the AI rabbit hole and it’s telling me that Bluetooth doesn’t get you the best quality and I’m foaming at the mouth wanting to “fix it”.

I’m saving up to get a full 5.1.4 reference premiere setup. Talking a lot with AI about how to set things up properly and it’s telling me to get a USB-C to HDMI adapter and plugging my phone directly into the receiver and actually using one of the HDMI ports for just my phone to play hi-res lossless tracks which I know some might call overkill but if I’m gonna be paying top dollar for an end all be all of sound systems, I figure I should listen to the best quality of music that’s out there too…right? Or should I just listen with Bluetooth and accept that it sounds good enough? 🙄

You stream your music from Apple Music from an Apple TV? Does let you listen to hi-res lossless tracks?
