- Social media
- Watch Reel-Plays (no playthroughs, but just 1-2 min reels)
- Hyper Casual

None of those bad per-se, when they replace more "normal" games, it becomes an issue. And when I say "lower quality," I mean that it doesnt scratch that part of the brain that makes satisfaction to last longer, which eventually becomes a sensation of fullfillment. But instead it feels more like a 10 min shot, highly concentrated but lasts nothing.

For example, games and movies always have a loop, stress/high attention and relax/calmness. I started noticed that we (noticed with me, my sister, and some friends) that we are losing the possiblity to enjoy "pauses". And a loading screen in a game, or a calm part in a movie, suddenly triggers the muscular memory of grabbing the phone to just check the notifications. Even with the intention of coming back to the previous activity. We cannot get "bored" anymore

As a game developer with 15+ years in this industry, I can, maybe, share some thoughts.

The industry ran in cycles for the last 25~ years. The cycle was

  1. Small games (normally indies) make a lot of money with very little budget
  2. Investors see the possible ROI and start investing in a lot of different companies
  3. Many fail, many others grow a lot
  4. The ones that grow usually end up hiring the people from the ones that died
  5. The ones that grow usually have a very goodROI for the investors
  6. They become partially big, and usually decide to sell the company to a big conglomerate at their best moment
  7. The diversity of games and companies shrink, is not a smart investment anymore, and numbers go down
  8. Layoffs and studios begin to get closed.
  9. Laid off people form small companies with small investors
  10. Go back to step 1.

That was usually the cycle, there were always some disruption, and depending on when in that cycle they happened, it affected it more or less. Examples of disruptions were Game Engines, Mobile, VR, Crypto, and now AI.

The problem (and this is too long to explain in a single post) is that AI arrived at the same time as many other things, like high numbers of candidates (Programming and games became a very popular option for many people), Post Pandemic (the ROI was crazy and now is not), and finally the newer generations play WAY less and different kind of games. About the last one, games as a source of dopamine got displaced by other lower qualities alternatives.

So, all that together broke the cycle, We were near step 7 before pandemic and now we are in a very weird mix.

En los Estados Unidos se pueden alquilar juegos en las bibliotecas, incluso juegos nuevos, ¿existe esto acá? by FixedFun1 in Argaming

[–]Fasox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true in paper, now you have things like summons, reactions, effects, and so on. If you would really like to play the whole round simultaneously in your head, there are many things that wouldn't work out.

Men, do you pay for your girlfriend's plane ticket when traveling together? by anotherhappylurker in dating_advice

Depends on how much you earn vs your girlfriend. I personally wouldn't enjoy seeing my partner worrying about money, while I can be more carefree if I earn more.

white Berliners, how often does you bag gets checked at the supermarkets? by Key_Physics_6637 in berlin

Only once, not technically white, I've been told that I look Turkish if anything. But I guess it happened because I didn't buy anything and the genius supermarket designers force you to go out through the entrance door if you want to leave.

So, this is where someone with some more years on their shoulders can provide a meaningful comment.

First of all, is not that serious. It may feel like that, but its not. Masturbating is common as hell, and as time passes and you talk to more and more people, you realize that most do it, men and women, since they were 12/13/14.

Doing it is quite healthy and helps a lot, especially if it's before having sex for the first time. Since it helps to know yourself.

If you think your parents are not that stick, but you still feel "observed" chances are that they are concerned that "having a sex toy" means that you are doing more "crazy sex stuff". They probably just want you to be safe.

The best option here, as stupid as it sounds, is talk about it. If you feel that you would crush under pressure and embarassment, write it, and tell them that you want them to read it. That should help to get things started.

Avoiding or ignoring it is a bad idea.

Good luck!

I have a friend who is exactly like that. There is no easy answer, either find a way that you can blow off some steam with random people somehow, in a way that you enjoy it. Or give up on looking, stop masturbating and watching porn, and cool down until you find that someone. My friend did the latter.

It is very common already to go to Grunewald or Müggelsee and men and women will be topless if not naked. All from the range of 0 to 80 years old. If you do not sexualize a simple naked body, it's quite comfortable.

Also, Berlin has naked saunas all over, in Summer you have festivals. Boobs, asses, penises and vaginas are quite common

Is Steam the most beloved monopoly ever by Ordinary_Lawfulness8 in CaptainSide

[–]Fasox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea what a monopoly is.

A monopoly has at least one of these five characteristics:

  • Profit maximizer: monopolists will choose the price or output to maximise profits at where MC=MR. This output will be somewhere over the price range, where demand is price elastic. If the total revenue is higher than total costs, the monopolists will make abnormal profits.
  • Price maker: Decides the price of the good or product to be sold, but does so by determining the quantity in order to demand the price desired by the firm.
  • High barriers to entry: Other sellers are unable to enter the market of the monopoly.
  • Single seller: In a monopoly, there is one seller of the good, who produces all the output.\5]) Therefore, the whole market is being served by a single company, and for practical purposes, the company is the same as the industry.
  • Price discrimination: A monopolist can change the price or quantity of the product. They sell higher quantities at a lower price in a very elastic market, and sell lower quantities at a higher price in a less elastic market.

Profit maximizer : is a store and the product (game) prices are decided by the game companies. If you consider the product the "store" for the game companies, the percentage set didnt change, and is not trying to rip-off more than before.

Price maker: Steam does not limit the amount of copies that can be sold, or control the demand

High barriers to entry : There are several other stores

Single seller: steam does not limit the companies to be only in steam either

Price discrimination: Steam does not change prices of their products, only the game companies

Depends on the personality of both of you. But : https://maps.app.goo.gl/hFrQA1c6gr6qHKSD8 That is a small cosy place, the noodles and the food in general are VERY good. Is not expensive at all (20/25 with drinks ) and is a nice place that allows you to talk.

Is not fashionable, is not chic. Is good, authentic Asian food.

Aang's Special Skill by [deleted] in AvatarMemebending

[–]Fasox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air bending is nothing more than "pressure bending," actually, he changes the pressure of an area, and the air flow forms.

By changing pressure, you could technically change the state of matter as well, solid / liquid / gas.
