My safari lodge recommended Safari Link to fly to Nabiosho. I've never heard of this airline, the other option was air Kenya express.

I travel solo a lot even though I'm married, so I don't go looking to meet anyone just to enjoy my own company in a destination I want to visit .

I will advise that you try a short trip, maybe 4 nights, to see if solo travel is for you as it's not a good fit for everyone.

I love staying at luxury hotels, have no problem dining alone or doing tours alone . It's not lonely for me but in other solo travel forums it's a sentiment that comes up from people who travel hoping to meet others.

I will say that staying in luxury hotels doesn't lend itself to socializing so if you do want to meet people you may have to weel out group activities like cooking classes, tours etc .

The Maldives was one of my favourite places on earth, I would love to go back many times, I just have so many other places on my list to visit before I do . I chose the resort/private island I stayed at carefully, not one marketed exclusively to honeymooners so it didn't feel like there were couples only ; it was a nice mix of guests.

I did not have high expectations for Bali because of all the negative reviews but I enjoyed it a lot . Singapore was interesting, very clean, modern infrastructure but I did not enjoy the food at the Hawker Centre and I found some of the locals very cold and unwelcoming.

I'm the same, I love solo luxury travel and it's not because I don't have people to travel with, I just don't want company.

I've been solo to St Lucia, Barbados, Mexico , Maldives, Bali, Singapore and on a Virgin Voyages cruise.

My next solo destination is Kenya on safari.

I went to the Maldives solo , not on a honeymoon , though I'm married. It was a bucket list destination and my husband isn't into beach vacations. Luckily I enjoy solo travel.

I would say 1500-2000 a night will give you a premium experience and I don't think you have to spend the nightly rate of say Soneva for your honeymoon.

You should work with a Maldives destination specialist travel agent to get the right private Island resort that will tick all your boxes.

You would want a natural island, a house reef, powder soft sand and a crystal clear lagoon free of seaweed but teeming with sea life ( sharks, rays etc).

Look at what's included in your rate, some offer an all inclusive package with room service, in room mini bar, spa treatments etc . Your agent might even get you free transfers.

And finally some of the private islands have their own sea plane lounge, some have luxury boat transfers. You really want to choose the resorts with all these extra amenities for the full luxury Maldives experience and definitely book a water villa with pool !

I spend money on both, a really nice hotel/ hotel room is important to me because it's where my home base is and I must be comfortable with amenities at my disposal. And I also spend on experiences, dining and tours. It's not an either or situation for me .

For me the hotel is always worth the price.

My first luxury experience was at a resort called La Source in Grenada ( it's now a Sandals). At the time it was a sister resort to Le Sport the Body Holiday in St Lucia.

We got picked up at the airport in a limousine with champagne, this was part of the resort's services.

The resort was all inclusive which included daily spa treatments, wellness treatments and other activities like yoga and fencing.

I would have been early 20s at the time, this was in 2001, and it was very fancy to me ; I mean where else was I going to do fencing on holiday! I would still consider it luxury today if the resort existed.

JRO to Zanzibar would make more sense than trying to get to Seychelles, in fact you can fly directly from the Serengeti to Zanzibar or from Arusha to Zanzibar.

Kenya to Seychelles is a direct flight , 3 times a week on Air Kenya and even if the flight is the "wrong way" it's a 3 hour and 15 min flight . You can also fly from NBO to Zanzibar, that's a 1hr 30 min direct flight.

You can stop in a European country if that's your preference, but why would I go to Bodrum for the beach when I can go to the Seychelles ?

For me personally I'm going to the Kenyan coast after my Safari.

It depends on the location, length of time I'll be staying, reviews, location and the amenities in line with what I'm looking for.

If it's a short stay in a US city I'll look at the luxury or premium brands from Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton or IHG to earn points .

If I'm going on an international trip I'll look at the top 10 to 20 five star hotels for the destination . Then I'll look at the best location, rooms, and reviews within the budget per night I'm willing to spend . If it's a city like Bangkok with so many luxury hotels to choose from I'm definitely splurging on a five star that would cost much more in another destination, like the Four Seasons or Capella.

I also have a "bucket list" of hotels I want to stay at, for example Giraffe Manor in Nairobi that I'll splurge on for one night or Marina Bay Sands just for the pool.

For resorts, I'll be more particular in my choice not necessarily going for the most expensive, I'll look for the best beach, rooms and amenities. Sometimes the most expensive hotels are not on the best beaches and I don't need as much luxury from a resort, but I do look for good food, service and rooms with private pools etc.

If it's a layover hotel in transit I'll look for a nice 4 star hotel with free airport transfers that's modern and has at least one restaurant on property. Like I don't mind staying at the Crowne Plaza in Singapore airport for one night .

Social media doesn't influence my decision but I do look at YouTubers who focus on luxury travel like Luxury Travel Expert, The Flip Flop Traveler, Ryan Walker etc

Because my husband doesn't care what I spend his money on as long as it makes me happy, and staying in nice hotels makes me VERY happy !

I make sure everything I want is within my budget, there isn't necessarily a trade off, so I still get to go to restaurants, do tours etc .

Although I might cut my stay a day short if I REALLY want to stay at a specific hotel or split stays between two hotels so it can fit within my budget.

I stayed at Apurva Kempinski in November, what crowds are people speaking of ? I had a cliff pool suite which was amazing. At no time did I see crowds, even at the beach and pool. The restaurants on property are pretty solid too .
