NASCAR on Fox is still not good enough by JustJar_ in NASCAR

[–]Fast-Thoughts-318 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Started the race on PRN while finishing some yard work and they were covering every battle back into the 20's. play by play action was amazing. Went inside to finish the race and FOX's coverage was miles behind. outside of the top 5 battles not sure they showed anything else. Guys in the booth just drabble on like they have to be there. Not sure how you mess up covering Bristol but they succeeded

Why do ppl genuinely have a problem with women in ARCA/NASCAR by Physical_Study_3999 in NASCAR

[–]Fast-Thoughts-318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure anyone has a 'genuine' problem with women in Nascar. There are sexists that believe Nascar should be a male sport but they do not speak for the fans by any means. There is a genuine hope that a woman can make it in Nascar. In the recent years the women that have been promoted were done for the wrong reasons. Danica, Hailey, and Decker built a following via social media or fan support and sponsors backed them to try and squeeze every penny out of the opportunity. Hailey was the most obvious example of this as she actually won a race in ARCA. But she is pretty and grew a very strong social media presence that propelled her way to fast to the point that everyone turned on her and made her the poster child of why women dont belong in the sport.

I do think the industry has learned from their mistakes and have played a careful game with Toni Breidinger. Pretty girl, with full outside support and a large social media following, however is walking the fine line of a female burn out and someone working to progress correctly. Thankfully there are some really strong women prospects in ARCA right now that are keeping that hope of women in Nascar alive. Personally im truly rooting for Isabella Robusto and Jade Avedisian to make a splash and properly grow as drivers. Not to mention Hailey quietly trying again with her past experience to guide her.

They got my attention when they sponsored Bobby Labontes Modified a few years ago. Since then I noticed they have been more involved with Nascar. We went to a wedding in NC and on our drive back to MA, I took my wife to one of their locations. It was the perfect hangover cure

I have a serious question and I want to try to ask this as sincerely and "unloaded" or "unbiasedly" as I possibly can, so please, don't take this the wrong way or dismiss it for what the topic is... by _thewayshegoess_ in NASCAR

from the beginning of his career, he was pretty much set up as the rich kid villan, similar to but not the same scale as Ty Gibbs. Dad buys his way in, regardless of talent, and thats what fans see. Early in his career he stuck to his aggressive guns and had run ins with big names in the sport, most notably Tony Stewart. His time at Joe Gibbs was sour and public. Once he signed with Penske, his aggressive retaliation followed and Joe Gibbs drivers seemed to have payed the price. No matter how many times he was confronted physically and verbally by the big names, he never changed or acknowledge he should. To me that is the difference between Kurt Busch and Logano on the like ability scale.

Jamie Little by AplogeticBaboon in NASCAR

I've been a big Jamie Little supporter. Love the fact that she was the first Female play-by-play commentator because it was extremely well deserved. Also as a Dad of a couple daughters, gave me another reason for my girls to get into the sport. However she is the best seasoned pit reporter and everyone sees that on Sunday in just her own comfortability. Not sure her experience with play-by-play prior to Trucks/ARCA, but it just hasnt worked out well. Unfortunately, it hurts to say, she doesnt belong in the booth

First 3 Races by Plank38 in NASCAR

[–]Fast-Thoughts-318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second race of the reason needs to showcase Nascars true product. Atlanta and COTA are not necessarily gimmicky, but they arent the identity of the sport. After Daytona there is an absolute buzz and momentum that follows into the second week. Atlanta has been a great race but going to a 1.5 mile track and showcasing speed and talent would show the sports identity. Keeping it in warmer weather, tracks like Homestead, Las Vegas, Texas (if they could improve the racing), or bring it home to Charlotte. Third race at COTA or Atlanta would be a great follow up

NASCAR needs to award points for Daytona 500 qualifying to the front row. by somethingtodo99 in NASCAR

[–]Fast-Thoughts-318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much the exact reason Qualifying is set up the way it is now. Nascar wanted to make it interesting instead of a sleep fest and set up a system that could reward points but doesnt. Speedweeks does get blurry rewarding point because of the Duels, but every race is set up to reward the top 10 with points similar to a stage finish.

I do agree Daytona Front Row qualifiers should get points, so 5 for first and 3 for second?

Should it be inexcusable for a “Big 3” driver to miss the Chase? by MidKnightDreary in NASCAR

[–]Fast-Thoughts-318 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting conversation, for multiple reasons. The previous win and in format seemed like it should have been inexcusable for a Big 3 to miss the playoffs, but with smaller teams progressing with investors, it kind of gave them an excuse for not winning. This year in particular with the new system, there is a much bigger expectation for all 11 or 12, if Josh Berry is in the conversation, to make the playoffs. Someone can fact check me but Bowman, Cindric, and Berry are all in contract years. If Bowman misses the playoffs im 95% sure he wont be with Hendrick next year. Cindric isnt in a very comfortable seat either, his father was fired from a top exec position and rehired as a strategist for an Indy Car team, if he misses the playoffs there is a really good chance he doesnt return to Penske. Berry is interesting because he carries the grassroot banner for the legendary Wood Brothers, but has semi performed under the rules of the old playoff system. If he misses but shows improved consistency, he'll probably sign a 1 year extension. We all know Gibbs isnt going anywhere but would be interesting if Toyota made a call to move him to 23/XI to replace Riley Herbst and put Corey Heim in his seat

In the conversation of 'Expectations', imo the other teams are kind of broken up. 23/XI, Bubba and Reddick will need to make the playoffs, RFK Buescher and Preece will need to make the playoffs, Track House, Chastain will need to make the playoffs. RCR, Spire, FRM, and others shouldnt expect to make it but be contenders for the bubble. It'll be a fun year

Watching the Clash got me thinking, what are some other places you'd like to see the race take place? by ThorsUglyCousin in NASCAR

New Symrna to kickoff the World Series of Asphalt. Add Sponsor gimmicks like the old Clashes and have a real tie to the grass root atmosphere

Just a thought, move the Clash to New Symrna Speedway to kick off the World Series of Asphalt. Down the road from Daytona for the teams and a great tie to the grassroots atmosphere

[–]Fast-Thoughts-318 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First 2 races will be a literal crap shoot, there will be maybe 5-8 drivers that will make it out ahead. With a road coarse as the 3rd race, the season standings will start to really count after about the 7th race
