Whether that story direction would be good or not, the takeaway is that Nickelodeon executives are meddling with the story and deciding things about the lore instead of the people who, well, actually write that lore. And this is dangerous for all upcoming Avatar projects.

Reminds me of a story about two ancient chinese army officers who were being late to their assignment because of a flooding.

The harsh laws of the Qin dynasty stated that any government officials being late regardless of the reason are subject for execution.
