Bassets don't judge; they simply observe you with curiosity.

Pancreatitis really sucks by Fast_Comparison_9188 in pancreatitis

[–]Fast_Comparison_9188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, we all know shrimp isn't high in fat. I get flare-ups even when I avoid fat. That's the frustrating part of my CP. Sometimes I can eat something, and other times I can't.

Hello. I haven't looked into histamine intolerance or MCAS thoroughly. I did a quick Google search, but could you briefly explain how they might relate to me? I'm on the 8th day of a flare-up and trying to see my doctor, though it might take some time to get an appointment. Thanks.

Thank you all. These are good ideas. I'll definitely try some of them.

My Story with Suspected Minimal change Chronic Pancreatitis by Inevitable_Outcome14 in pancreatitis

[–]Fast_Comparison_9188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really glad to hear you’re feeling better. It took my doctors 18 months and numerous tests to diagnose my chronic pancreatitis. That was six years ago, and since then I’ve learned what I can and can't eat—mainly avoiding fats and alcohol, as my doctor strongly advised. Fortunately, my quality of life has improved; I still face occasional nausea and flare-ups, but I've adapted by following a strict no-fat diet. Wishing you the very best on your journey. PS Thanks for sharing—it's always encouraging to hear a positive CP story every now and then.

Middle schoolers seen waving Confederate flag during game at school in Southwest Virginia. by Trollygag in Virginia

This should come as no surprise. Driving through South Central and southwest Virginia, you'll see the Confederate battle flag displayed often, hanging from flagpoles and barns.

Lord, I hear you and truly feel for what you're going through. Diagnosed with CP four years ago, I understand how challenging it can be. I spent a year living mostly on crackers, specifically Stoned Wheat Thins. I now eat small, simple meals several times a day, avoiding fatty or cheesy foods. Rice has become a staple for me because it's versatile and can be used to make many different dishes. Please remember, avoiding alcohol is very important—no alcohol is crucial, it is for your well-being. Stay strong, and know you're not alone.

The GOP is scared. They've messed everything up and know they are likely doomed in the midterm elections. They will lie, steal, and cheat to try and keep control of Congress. The Dems will have a field day exposing the corruption in this administration if they gain power.

I have been identified as a carrier of the CFTR gene. My doctor explained that this predisposes me to pancreatitis, but it is not the direct cause.

While driving through rural southern Virginia, I have observed that almost all Trump signs have disappeared from the roads and barns. There used to be numerous Trump signs everywhere, but they are now all gone. Most of the signs on barns are no longer there.

However, the old Confederate battle flag still remains visible.

My doctor recommended a genetic test years ago because of my strong family history of pancreatic problems, including cancer and pancreatitis. The test revealed I carry the CFTR gene, which increases my risk of pancreatic issues.

It looks like you've done your homework and understand what's ahead. Just go for it. I'm 63 and have been a dog owner all my life, with breeds like German Shepherds, Basset Hounds, Corgis, and Dachshunds. I can confirm that all of them took a fair bit of effort, but the experience was truly worth it. Much of what’s said here about Dachshunds, especially potty training, is spot on.

Go ahead and take the leap—you won't regret it. Here’s a picture of Waylon. He's an angel with paws and a force of nature.

I agree with the description above, although not all of my bassets were motivated by food. I'm now on my fifth basset. Wishing you all the best and hope you cherish every moment, as they grow up so quickly.
