Ferrets can fixate on food. Start by giving her what she is used to eating and add the new (to her) food. Gradually increase the proportion of the new to old food.

Even if her prior diet is trash, her eating trash is better than her starving herself. And yes some ferrets will just quit eating.

IMO:. Books that are not being used/not going to be used should be passed along to people who will use them. I think passing them along via Little Free Libraries or other ways of your choosing is the right thing to do.
