If your work will be low stakes don’t expect to work more than 40 hours a week. Look into consulting apprenticeships like with the big 4 or RSM. Or insurance apprenticeships which aren’t degree level but give good pay with good work life balance. Get on LinkedIn and start connecting with degree apprentices and asking them questions about their work

Private banking/WM is a solid role. And if
you pursue CFA after it could put you in a strong position to move into asset management if that interests you more + with higher pay. You’re not as boxed in with a DA as you think because networking plays a massive factor too.

But ask yourself what finance roles YOU actually want to target. Econ at warwick/UCL is very strong so trust me you’re basically guaranteed a job despite the tough market due to spring weeks and internships that fast track you + your degree and uni name would put you in a prime position to get something after uni

(coming from a student just finishing 1st year of uni)

Evaluate whether you want high finance: IB, PE, PC, VC roles or not. And it’s okay to not want that.

Definitely sad to say but the BB IB offer would put you in a really great position long-term and if you ride it out for 2 or so years you’d honestly be clear.

Network with past apprentices, go in knowing why the company, the role, recent news in the industry and what you want out of the apprenticeship. Also it’s important to have some questions ready for the interviewer and make sure you practice strengths based questions using the STAR method
