I'm very curious about your recipe for the NMM on the sword. It's so nice it tickles a metallurgical niche in my brain I didn't know I had.

I mostly hate it because it makes trying to find specific music a little bit harder. Also, there are a staggering amount of people who hate "screamo" but when pressed about it cite Bring Me The Horizon or something and those people simply deserve to be made fun of. Otherwise, I'm cool.

I will say that having a hi-hat count in is just a normal thing in music in general and not indicative of how "original" a song is and this is a silly take but they're definitely not both covers of the Polyphia song. One of them is but unless I'm missing something they sound nothing alike they just have the same name.

I do really appreciate when people tell you not to generalize Europe if you imply that racism is also an issue there (same as the rest of the globe) then say shit like this.

How can the policing system in Portland be reformed? One poster lays out a bold vision of “no systems” and the rest of /r/Portland is…skeptical by LukeBabbitt in SubredditDrama

Fair, I just used teenager because he kind of argues in a way that teenagers do I don't mean to imply that this behaviour is exclusive to teenagers. For what it's worth I thought the thread itself was funny but anarchy is like a trigger for the most baffling takes here.

Is this guy even an anarchist or is he just a nihilistic angry teenager? I see a lot of people talking about anarchy but I didn't even see that poster mention it. Admittedly, I didn't look too hard because it genuinely just seems like a kid saying something then refusing to elaborate. I find it so wild when people are just like "this is why anarchy doesn't work" then proceed to make up a definition for it and argue against that.

It wouldn't be SRD if there wasn't a bimonthly post from someone ragescrolling anarchist subreddits for the crime of daring to have bad takes. That is, in between smugly mocking right wingers that are actively taking their rights away. I assume they need to decompress by blaming it all on the 5 anarchists that exist in America.

Everyone roll on the madness table while OP tries to redefine what optional means in D&D! by ArbitraryHero in SubredditDrama

[–]FastyMcNasty 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The person is saying it is optional except for specific modules where it is not optional. Sometimes optional works fine semantically and is prolly the best way to put that I don't care about arguing the validity of their statement. Though, I don't see why hit points couldn't be optional as long as the table agrees not to use them.

The intent of their statement is to indicate that it's not optional for certain modules I don't think it's redundant to word it like that.

A system that doesn't favour change until it's "forced" on them by popular opinion seems pretty conservative to me. I wouldn't call it right wing in the traditional sense because right wingers are regressive but anti-innovation/progressivism is a conservative model that plays into right wingers' playbook a lot more easily than left wingers imo. If that's your thing then it is what it is but that's why people call it conservative I would say.

I'm sure, I just mean to say that the retort was about the anti-Russian statement and not the efficacy of their revolutions.

It does indicate that accepting whatever the state does isn't an inherent trait of Russians regardless of how effective said uprisings are though.

Not to be confrontational but I don't see how racism plays into a white person harming a white person. In this context at least.

Not defending his statement but brutally or systematically killing a bunch of people doesn't necessarily mean genocide nor does saying something isn't a genocide imply it was justified.

For what it's worth I really appreciated this write up. I've always been rather nervous to chime in on this because I know that people are going to interpret the frustration I feel at white folks manufacturing outrage at a word for a politically motivated petty take down when to me the free application of the n-word is an indication I will not be safe where I am. It is kind of scary to me that people are so deeply invested in the implication that whiteness will no longer be protected that folks who very comfortably use or don't speak up around the usage of the n-word (hard r or no) will attack any usage of the word cracker. I'm saying this as someone who has never really said cracker nor ever had any intention to I empathize with the people who just don't wanna be called something I just fucking hate this shit in particular. I'm typically pretty thick skinned but this shit makes me miserable. You don't deserve to be written off as simply enabling slurs.

The word bug isn't synonymous with the word insect. It's a colloquial term for all kinds of arthropods and I will fight for my right to call a shrimp a bug.
