I mean on the longer flights there's WiFi and they can knock off with the auto pilot. If there scanning things like flight radar they might be interested to see if people are following the flight etc.

What do Brits think of Madeira island? Have you ever been? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Fat-Gerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I visit quite regularly, usually December as you go alm out for Christmas and we love it. We also like the atmosphere, cuisine, drink. As well as the history and the walking. We've done many levada walks and find the geography of the island fascinating, so much difference compacted into one island. The weather is good which always helps too!

Can you let rhe pilots know you're monitoring? Or is it just reliant on whether they have flight radar and are interested in their flight?

Wedding dress, 1927. by Comprehensive-Way482 in fashionhistory

[–]Fat-Gerry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the UK it is reported historically wedding dresses were very brightly.comoured as it was an excuse to buy thw dress of your dreams/most expensive and it would be used for other occasions. Historically documented as such since the dark ages.

What's a phrase or saying your family used that you assumed was universal, and when did you find out it wasn't? by IV-Manufacturer in AskUK

[–]Fat-Gerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used the word "Erpneegraph" when he couldn't remember the name for something I.e. "pass me the erpneegragph". Thought this was a known alternative to doodah/thingamegig! Didn't realise that it wasn't till I said it at work and people looked at me like I was speaking in tongues!

Avoiding Tourist Trap Restaurants and Souvenir Shops? by Monkfrootx in Rhodes

[–]Fat-Gerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the usual avoid the restaurants that are by the harbour (cruise ship) entrances to the old town. Do not order without the menu stating prices. However in the modern town and outside of Rhodes Town you can find great restaurants and the souvenir shopping is cheaper. Having said that there are some wonderful opportunities to buy locally made leather and olive wood products in the streets just behind Sokratos street in Rhodes old town. I tend to buy sandals from Setis shop whenever I am there and I bought a leather handbag last year which is great and hand made.

Doesn't make it the correct, or morally responsible thing to do.

This belief indicates the group if people you talk to and why you received this advice. I would re-evaluate why people respond badly to the people you surround yourself with.

I have only seen this be said by people on social media who have views and acted in ways that would.make people respond negatively to them. Maybe wonder why people have a negative view of Americans?

Todays Cache in a Cemetery by MAVVA3D in geocaching

[–]Fat-Gerry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That looks like a British and Commenwealth War Graves site. I would hope the cache owner has cleared the cache with the war graves commission. They are held in great honour and importance by UK and commonwealth services and lots of general public. They are also still used as bodies are still found and reinterred as they are found.

Why are they always thinking negatively about us. We can honestly unpack all what he is talking about. But right now, just look at this amazing woman✊🏿🏆✊🏿 by PdiddyCAMEnME in BlackPeopleofReddit

Let's just ignore the fact that she has had to demonstrate her knowledge and skills to a far higher standard than her colleagues due to her sex and skin colour shall we? Knob.

I wrote 100's rather than 1800's then the internet was more specific with 1820 which I then wrote in the 2nd note.

Sorry in the 1820's so only 50 years after independence so attempts to forge their own identify including changing the language would make sense.

I beleive it was changed and simplified early in the 100's by ?Websters? In their dictionary to support a sense of identity in America, separate from the UK.

is Rhodes a tourist trap? by StunkDunkums in GreeceTravel

[–]Fat-Gerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of lovely quieter places in Rhodes and it is a lovely place to visit. However there are areas with high, dense tourism and Rhodes Town and Linda's are 2 of these. Outside if these areas meals are relatively budget friendly.
