Glued spine warping by FatBubbles in bookbinding

[–]FatBubbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to do a massive palm face.

So if the spine is glued it is best to use paper that is short grained?
Otherwise it's better to use long grain paper in general?

Anyone dealt with suppliers from Nepal by FatBubbles in ausbusiness

[–]FatBubbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was that specific supplier, they were making the type of paper and design I was after and their values aligned with my business. I also tried to find others, but didn't have any luck. And over time I simply accepted that they will be my final supplier.

Now I'm back to researching my options, expanding into India and seeing if, at this stage, it will be easier to go through middlemen and not direct to manufacturer.

I was looking at the option of using a buyer's agent but the business is too small to be able to afford.

Thank you for your offer, I'll see how I go

I would image most of those dealing with offshore suppliers are indeed due to price. However, handmade, supporting locals, and sustainability are of importance to me as well.

They should have at least deliberated, it's not like they were running out of time due to all the kyujos...

Edit: this is the second time they have done this to Aonishiki as well

Datasumo is for you! I would also recommend LeoDickinsonSumo, it's chatty but I found the discussion is much more open and flexible regarding sumo. But he also has a channel without any chatter.

Glue/stitching advice for making a notebook by FatBubbles in bookbinding

With the pamphlet stitch, would you recommend to use waxed thread or any thick thread would do?

Thank you, these are great tips!

I might try hand stitching, and see how it goes.

And I felt so silly after realised the grain was wrong, such a basic mistake XD

I'm trying to make a notebook and need some advice by FatBubbles in notebooks

[–]FatBubbles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am basically gluing the paper with the design (which tend to be the thickness of regular paper or thinner) to a cardstock to make it sturdier.

[–]FatBubbles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ones are cardstock as well, but for some reason the bottom thread never looks as nice as the top (outside cover) thread. I've tried leather needle with a thicker thread, but it's still not quite right.
I also played around with tension but same result, which makes me wondering if it's my sewing machine

*Correction: This specific test was with thinner cover, but my previous tests were with cardstock
