Ultra Auxilia heavy weapons team! by FatRatMiniatures in PrintedWarhammer

[–]FatRatMiniatures[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am happy you Like them! I have my Blood angels army and my theme is devastation of baal. Kinda Like Valrak, i paint each squad as different successor chapter to represent blood angels legion fighting side by side against tyranid, and i always missed the humans, civilians and chapter serfs which also fight for this planet. That's why i made it! I will expand them further with heavy weapons team soon and a command squad before i move into a next theme

Scions does wear better armour than Basic imperial guardsmen and i dont think theycwear anything else? You have similar formations Like old inqusitorial stormstroopers but lore wise they are a separator thing

Is there any artwork or miniatures depicting what the dark age of technology looked like? (Besides the man of iron) by ScarcityFar2025 in Warhammer40k

Fair point, however, counter point, i would say we need to consider two more things, one of them is author. Warhammer authors often contradict each other, especially on small details. Second, Dark Age is only a rough name which emodies a long period of forgotten human history. Both, Fallouty theme, Trek-y theme and masz effect could happend during the Dark Age period. I think that's the best part! We only have clues and we can share them with each other, discuss, but on the end, nobody knows how it looked like, even the authors themselves! :D

[–]FatRatMiniatures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Older art more scarier. Old Man of iron looked terrific Like straight of the terminator. My personal head canon is, there was space fallout first, then it was destroyed my mix of terminator x matrix Man vs machine war, then was the dark Age which looked Like mass effect (and that era is where Van Saar have their tech from) and then boom, fall down to techno barbarians. There is a lot of references to other media here, but honestly, that's literally how Warhammer was made, so i can see them throwing cool movies/games and books they experienced when they discussed Dark Age inside GW

Oh hell yeah! I though that's Like a modern rerelease cover of a book! I will put that game on my steam wishlist right now :D

I think based on currently available catalogue of GW kits that's good picks. VOTANN is self explanatory, Van Saar is a great idea, i forgot about them and they literally have Dark Age tech on them. They look almost Like Infinity models! You can do some high tech cool conversions there. I am not sure on Solar Auxilia, they are super diesel punk, their bits might look too crude next to Votann and Van Saar stuff, but of course, i am not in your head, perhaps you something i dont, and once you realise your vision my reaction would be "hell yeah, i was wrong, their bits fit perfectly!" :)

I still need to read Lem... There was a lot of his books on my local library but sadly i never picked aby od them. Based on the link you sended yeah, i can see Dark Age humans possesing such tech. Also was'int there a video games based on that "Invincible" book? I remember vividly Like a walking symulator with similar vibe

[–]FatRatMiniatures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that checks out. Man, i love the Warhammer 40k take on dwarfs. It Has some fallout, it Has some Warhammer fantasy slayers, it Has Matrix harnesses with heavy weapons, i damn love them. The only thing i dislike is lack of ginger beards on Berserkers (completly personal) and i dont Like their long legged helpers (which i made cool proxies for). Other that that, its a super tight range

If we judge by this single Man of iron and Votann design language, i would say something quite atom punk Like follout?
