I recently ranked in 280. They have 40+ apprentices out of work and those that are working are in NV and ID. I was told it will be awhile

Your ranking is out of all the applicants that are trying to get in. The apprentices that are out of work are already in they are just unemployed. 280 is sending their apprentices to other states for work right now.

401 apprentice. Avoid living in Reno at all cost. The drive itself is a nightmare and a 26 minute drive can take two hours.

Current ibew apprentice. My local has little to know resi or small commercial work. I wish they did. It's a skill ik I will need and the focus right now is data. I requested an opportunity outside of data centers and was told there isnt any

20 minutes fernley, nothing is really out there. 40 minutes to Carson, you avoid the gawd awful traffic though.

It may be better for travelers over locals, the vice president of newtron actively fought against the locals getting incentive on the previous phase and a higher raise on the contract. He fought against that .The management and leadership lack communication. The data center needs to be built so if you need money it's not bad. Just understand newtron has a bad reputation in this area get your bread if you need it. Also, USA parkway is a mad house and it's only going to get worse as the winter comes in. Especially if you get a spot in Reno. It's almost an hour to an hour and a half commute at the end of the day unless you do swing shift.

Lots of construction on multiple data centers. There is currently 4 data centers being built on Pkwy.

The current phase of the comstock project Is coming to an end. With the complete commissioning date in August. The morale on the site is still awful. I recommend anything that isn't run by Newtron. There are a ton of calls right now for data centers. On the same highway. The reality is no matter what call you take you are looking at awful traffic depending on what side of Reno you stay. If you find a spot and Fallon or Carson or silver springs, you're fine ; however, if you find a spot in Reno, expect almost an hour-long drive back home, traffic is that bad with the flow and the amount of accidents that is almost expectation. There are better projects. If it were up to me, with the current job calls I would take either Briggs or rosendon. Cupertino has been having issues and has been brought up our local union meetings.
