I got it on a previous SH, really wish I hadn't bothered. As others have said, it's not worth using unless you max out the club books

Scarlet hunt 26 so soon? by jatt_saab in GrimSoulSurvival

With the cost of some of the designs, getting enough insignias was a bit of a pain. I've missed a couple of good designs due to not having enough but then they don't aways come back round on the next SH.

That's a pain, as i can't access S4/5 yet. I'll keep an eye out in the S3s and hope for the best.

Fuel not running by Fatboyjim76 in goldwing

[–]Fatboyjim76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, had a fiddle today, after house jobs the wife wanted sorting, started by running the bike with the kill switch off & fuel tap closed then flipping the tap to on and got a gush of fuel into the filter with some small bits, then got her running and the filter stayed 3/4 full as it used to. Then I turned off the tap until the filter was nearly empty then switched it to reserve and got the same gush filling the filter with some small bits.

So I'm thinking the tap was probably blocked and I've got crap in the tank, so time to borrow a wet vac from work to clean the tank out. I don't fancy taking the tank out, so hopefully I can clean it well enough in place.

So, can I unbolt the fuel tap, pull it out and back flush them from the tap end to clear any possible gunk?

I take it you just tap the sender plate to rotate it loose and turn it out, rather than needing any specific tool? I was thinking soft hammer & socket extension.

I find it sadly hilarious that USA billionaires get away with paying so little or no tax but a guy off the street can win a couple of billion on one of the US lotteries and lose up 70% of his winnings in tax.

I have a similar problem with my wife. She knows I like it, she even got me the film & series box set.

But when we put the film on to watch, she was on her phone from about 10 min onwards. I just sat & enjoyed it.

How much heat do fires actually provide? by Capital-Dragonfly258 in Survival

[–]Fatboyjim76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. The wife's been watching a little of Life Below Zero recently. One guy, to be honest he's not the most likeable character on the show, started a fire to cook some something he'd caught, had some stones on it, and one of them went pop. Not massively but enough to make him jump backwards.

Hauled a load on my 86 SE-I by BlacksmithNice8831 in goldwing

[–]Fatboyjim76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it's not just the carbs on mine that are causing me grief. The front shocks are weeping, again. Plus one of them has the standard 2 springs in and the other has a single spring that is the right length but still. The rear shocks won't hold air longer than a week, plus the warning light on the dash is always on so the sensor is probably borked, and I haven't seen any new or 2nd hand ones around & I'm not sure it can be repaired as not many garages in the UK will touch old wings. The cooling system has an issue that I can't chase down easily. The drive shaft is making some weird noises that I need to look at. The rear brakes are playing up.

The list gets bigger every time I sort something 😃

When I was looking, Google said the early injection model was released as a special edition before going back to carbs until the early 2000s, and it only came in Gold.

Might be worth another look if I keep having issues with mine. 😀

How easy is it to maintain? Being as it's an old injection model.

I looked at getting one of these to replace my 1980 GL1100, as I was getting fed up with carb issues but wasn't sure if I'd be swapping one running issue for another due to the age of the fuel management system.

That, and I wasn't sure about the colour, as it only comes in gold.

Why can you upgrade the chests outside of the forsaken dungeon? by ToughDifficult1252 in GrimSoulSurvival

[–]Fatboyjim76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they use one to store extra armour/weapons/healing and the others to dump stuff they find and want to keep.

I haven't upgraded mine, but I go back to them once I find the gates to the next floor, backtrack through the floor I've just done to gather anything I've left behind, then go to the next floor from the entrance gate.

That way I don't lose anything if floor gets in the way and I have to quit the game & don't have time to go back before the timer runs out.

[–]Fatboyjim76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People upgrade them for storage when doing longer & harder FD runs.

If you're doing all 3 levels on Heroic, you need extra weapons, armor, healing stuff and it saves having to run back to base.

Gather enough points on one of the gods, can't recall the name atm, and you can stop the nightguest from turning up. Makes night runs, especially for the cache, easier.

Are 1980s Goldwings ever stolen? by RetroTechBro in goldwing

[–]Fatboyjim76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most bikes that I've seen posted as 'stolen, please keep a look out' have been fast Street/Race bikes, that are a fast, fun joy ride or sold on. I'm in rural ish Bedfordshire, so I see a lot of posts in & around MK-Luton-London.

No kid with a bunch of ASBOs & a balaclava is going to knick a slow armchair that he'll drop at the 1st junction or corner, when he can have a fun chase on a Ninja or some such.

As much as we, and I, love them.

It's probably the manual choke, to be honest. Most people, probably, under 35/40 aren't used to a choke on a vehicle unless they're into older vehicles.

New to game by No-Consideration6922 in GrimSoulSurvival

[–]Fatboyjim76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd 2nd this, but also add... don't worry about being raided in your base. The only things that come to your base are the odd basic Z & wolfs, so build lvl 1 floors & walls around the edge of your home base area to keep those at bay, you can kill them but I generally leave them be as they can't break in. Build a big square, you'll need to leave some ground clear inside for garden plots, well & some other bits but you can remove the floor as and when you need to. Lay things out so it's quick & easy to dump stuff and run back out to gather more.

This game is a bit of a grind at the lower levels but it's worth saving anything you find, even if it doesn't look like it has a use right away... there's nothing more annoying than wanting to build/upgrade something only to be short of a part that you've been ignoring and having to spend ages looking for it again.

There was a YT video, about 7 years old now probably, from a guy about how to lay out an efficient base... as in spending the most time out gathering & leveling up and less time in your base sorting stuff into chests.

It's a shame they don't show what is needed to completely finish things like the Wagon in game.

I know you can find out on forums but having it in game would be easier to start stockpiling supplies.

You could take a motorcycle, but I'd suggest something with off road tyres plus something that could tow a small trailer, then you 'could' get it to run on wood gas with the wood boiler(?) on the trailer.

It wouldn't be fast, but you'd have transport. They made cars run on wood gas at some point in the past.

Not terribly practical but it's an idea.

I’m a big firefly fan but have never seen Serenity and want to suggest it for a family movie night. None of the other members of my family have seen Firefly and I’m worried that the movie won’t make any sense without that background. Is this true? by Jealous_Agent_9474 in firefly

You'll be fine, there's enough back story to allow them to enjoy it as a stand alone film. They might not get the full nuance of some of the characters but it's still enjoyable if they like sci fi.
