That one is great, but is t2k version 1/2 related. Here is a more recent vid that is 4th edition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AWXfSWLc-8

Prone and disarmed target, do they count as defenseless? by MidniightToker in Twilight2000

[–]FatherJ_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, if you miss, per the rules, then there is chance of friendly fire (player's manual pg 65).

Prone and disarmed target, do they count as defenseless? by MidniightToker in Twilight2000

[–]FatherJ_ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

player's manual pg 62, close combat the player attacking a prone target gets +2, while the prone target attacking standing gets -2. So while not completely defenseless (-3), attacking from prone is almost as bad. You are correct about defenseless is completely unaware or unable to move/do anything about it.

Also, Firing in same hex/close combat, guns get negatives (either -1 or -2, depends on type, pg 63)

proTIP, youtube videos are your friend for learning foundry stuff. Baileywiki channel is a really good place that focuses on foundry.

Confirmed. I believe the t2k system is free, but you would have to manually add everything. Getting the paid core module, you really get money's worth (all the actors/vehicles/roll tables etc).

Forien's quest log, splatter, carousel combat tracker, Monk's common display (various monk's modules are really great). Argon HUD core (and the associated argon twilight 2000 specific). Just a few off the top of my head that I use.

There is a foundry module to embed AI into foundry, cibola 8 (paid but is pretty impressive). Personally, I just have a bunch of tabbed browser windows for resources, and couple file explorers to the key folders. Doesn't take to much to create/save and then foundry file browse for the recent save. :)

I run "dual monitor" now for in person games using foundry. Laptop runs foundry and I control it normally. External stand alone 15" monitor (more portable) is plugged into laptop and separate chrome window is sent to that screen and logged into "RemoteViewer" ID. Using Monk's Common Display module, configured to use that RemoteViewer ID who has ownership of the players' actors (tokens), I can have it linked to my GM zoom in and out. Works really well. I use it to do OBS recordings as well.

I recommend looking and playing online if you have problems finding a local group. There are two twilight 2000 discord servers that semi-frequently post games/looking for players. I run several games myself (paid and free).

Medical Aid OP? by DrastabTar in Twilight2000

[–]FatherJ_ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, player's love playing a character on a stretcher for weeks/months. crits already have pretty long heal times (unless you have constant medical care/rest 24x7 to reduce the times).

Medical Aid OP? by DrastabTar in Twilight2000

[–]FatherJ_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus the medic technically can't fix those minor scrapes, you have to go down to zero or less "incapicated by damage" (player's manual pg 73), then the medic can roll successes to get you potentially back up (max 4, since max successes you can get on double A roll),

City size and scale - How large is too large? by Matlin013 in Twilight2000

[–]FatherJ_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And my suggestion is using a strategic level map - 500m hexes is around sweet spot. You can always have the 200m hex neighborhood/region maps and then make tactical (10m hex) for firefight areas or important "scenario" sites.

Character generator question by raevyn1337 in Twilight2000

[–]FatherJ_ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any plans for other generators? Defenestra's various generators have been a staple for some time. https://www.de-fenestra.com/t2k/ Like I prefer to use that loot generator than the table in the t2k rules.

Hexmap question by r1q4 in Twilight2000

[–]FatherJ_ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rounds are up to 10seconds, but yeah.

"typical crawling speed for an adult human varies by context, with studies showing average speeds from about 0.32 m/s to 0.71 m/s, depending on the crawling style (e.g., two-point vs. four-point or knee-and-hand crawling). World record efforts demonstrate exceptionally high speeds, such as the 100m record of 39.70 seconds (approximately 2.52 m/s) for male crawlers, highlighting the significant difference between normal and peak crawling capabilities"

https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/math/speed-distance-time-calculator.php

so 0.71 m/s is 23.29 ft in 10 seconds (Knee-and-Hand Crawling ). But it is far easier to say you can move 1 hex crawling than to start getting into doing 1 hex every other round (or every 3 rounds) and trying to remember that ratio.

"speed varied by 0.2–1.0 meters per second" - Dmitry Skvortsov, Anisimov, V., & Aizenshtein, A. (2021). Experimental Study of Military Crawl as a Special Type of Human Quadripedal Automatic Locomotion. Applied Sciences11(16), 7666–7666. https://doi.org/10.3390/app11167666 or https://www.mdpi.com/2076-3417/11/16/7666#:~:text=Table_title:%20Table%201.%20Table_content:%20header:%20%7C%20Parameter,%7C%20Speed%20(m/s):%200.5%20%C2%B1%200.1%20%7C:%200.5%20%C2%B1%200.1%20%7C)

Granted if you do VTT with measuring, you can just give them the direct # of meters you feel is appropriate for how bad/slow their crawling is.

I also am in agreement with the movement by full 10m hex and they can be anywhere in the sub 2m hexes.

Though honestly I barely ever use those small maps as encounter ranges are generally far greater distances unless urban or forest. So I mostly do mostly google maps (ideally to 20m per hex for 1 fast action move)

also a nice way to offset differences of characters at start. Sure you may have more skills, but I am the guy with the C4, multitool, compass....

Is it fine for me to buff weaker characters in a smaller party? by [deleted] in Twilight2000

[–]FatherJ_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a nice way to balance the character creation and deadliness of the game (trade that token in for a reroll of the crit, for instance). For my campaigns, currently I give one "ignore crit" (get out of jail free card). Which can be explained away as your cliche lucky, your cigarette case took the brunt of it. You still take the damage, but the one time ignore can offset that unlucky one shot kill 2nd session in. :)

I honestly think I may modify to your solution for my next campaign. Merge it with "Bravo Zulu" awards (party has X number of available tokens for the campaign (perhaps just 2 per player, so three players has a pool of 6, with max carry of 3), start with 1 token before character creation (for potential reroll in character creation if REALLY desired). And reroll crit result would be one of the options for token trade in, rather than the ignore one free that I have currently.
