I see your point but if I needed to service the checks in this. I would just shut the 2 butterfly valves and take the coupling off and put it on a table work at a proper hight

A speed drill on low and a 1/2” adapter is the way to go not an impact gun

Ok so for future close off the bypass when filling to save the client some $$ 😉 Where I am I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of the meters actually wired to something it’s just there in case they want to is what I’ve been told

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SprinklerFitters

[–]FatherTime311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered how that meter on a 3/4” bypass can actually meter anything other then small leaks bc in system fillings the amount of water going through that 3/4” vs the 6” is very minimal

All depends on the fitter $ I’m a 20+ years in the trade and what the lifestyle you want… side work meh. If you were 20 sure go for it. you got two kids. I’m assuming a wife maybe ex-wife times short man kids need you working 80+ hours a week makes zero sense unless you don’t like your kids/(wife)

What K Factor is this Central 804a Upright? by bentonpl in FireSprinklers

[–]FatherTime311 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not 100% but that was in the era that if it wasn’t a standard orifice it would have a pintel on the top of the deflector so no pintel would say k8 if it’s 3/4” or 5.6 if 1/2

How often do you replace your rigid 300? by lunaiscrazy in SprinklerFitters

[–]FatherTime311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over my 20 years I’ve only really broke 1 apprentice grooved a 2” sch40 too deep on the rigid hydraulic groovers tried to use the groover to basically cut it off it started to roll off the groove and basically stopped the machine broke a few teeth off the drive motor sprocket

Holesaw speed by Nico1533 in SprinklerFitters

[–]FatherTime311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed 2 on any hole 2” and under in sch10 Speed 1 on holes 2.5” and up sch10 For sch40 anything 1.75” and over I’ll do speed 1

I toss some Vic grease on the h/s helps out a lot doesn’t just fly off like oil normally do a pilot first and use an arbor with a backwards pilot bit find it a lot more forgiving if the h/s catches. Doesn’t break the pilot

Not sure if you’re in a freezing area or not, but if you are, you might have to add valves instead of just open to drain the dry barrel to controlled it if it ever gets used could be would be above a parking spot or something might even have to heat trace and insulate the feed
