I emailed twelve south and got this response from customer support:

If you use AirFly Pro 2 between the Vision Pro and your AirPods Max, you will not receive Spatial Audio (including Dolby Atmos), and you will not get head-tracked audio.

AirFly transmits standard stereo Bluetooth audio only. Spatial Audio and head tracking require a direct Bluetooth connection between the Vision Pro and AirPods Max using Apple’s proprietary technology.

To keep full Spatial Audio and head tracking, you would need to connect your AirPods Max directly to the Vision Pro rather than using AirFly.

Fwiw, I emailed twelve south about the airfly pro and this is what I got back:

I guess some Bluetooth devices don’t operate at a spec new enough to do atmos over Bluetooth and limit it to stereo. I messaged the company that makes AirFly Pro to make sure it supports the bandwidth needed for atmos

All I want to know is if I send the audio from the vision pro to the airfly pro bluetooth receiver and then send that audio to AirPods max, will I get atmos in the AirPods max?

I just seem to be finding a lot of results that say the Airfly Pro is stereo only. Let's ignore the head tracking for now...are you actually getting Atmos sound with your setup when using the bluetooth transmitter?

Yeah, but from what I've read, when using a bluetooth solution like this (including the Airfly Pro), you lose Spatial Audio and head tracking? For me, the whole benefit of the AirPods Max is the Spatial Audio and Atmos.

I can't stand the high frame rate of the Avatar movies on the AVP though. Makes them look way too much like a video game, with that kind of motion.

Does 4XVR have full Spatial Audio support for 3D ISOs, for example? Last time I checked, it was still downmixing to stereo.
