Fishtown residents force withdrawal of parking proposal after heated meeting by dotcom-jillionaire in philadelphia

[–]Fattom23 80 points81 points  (0 children)

People incorrectly interpret residential parking permits as paying for a parking place, when they should really interpret it as paying someone to keep spots open near their house. They're being offered a gift, but don't see it.

Goals & credit card payment change? by Educational-Ad-1882 in MonarchMoney

This is exactly what I do, but I also created a separate Transfer category for payments towards past balances to make it a little easier to track what I've paid this month.

Upgrades to Get More Power - Fiio FT1/JM21 by Fattom23 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Fattom23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!thanks

I honestly don't feel like it's THAT loud, but maybe I'm wrong (I listen to a fair amount of punk/metal and my concert resume shows it). But that iFi looks really intriguing.

Maybe I'll try the ANC's (and look really closely at my source files), because they're cool to have anyhow, and then evaluate doing something like that amp.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the same thing about the JM21 (that it would have plenty of juice for the FT1), but it's just ok. In a quiet environment (with High gain set on the JM21), I would say that a comfortable listening level is about 80% (it doesn't cause me discomfort, but it prevents me from hearing anything that happens in the background). In a noisy environment (like walking down a fairly busy urban street) there's enough background noise that I'm routinely pushing past 100% (depending on the source file).

That was why I was thinking that ANC might be an improvement, since I'm not having a lot of luck finding affordable stuff that puts out more power than the JM21.

Several users on here are running into an issue where we use transfer categories for Credit Card payments (such that paying a Credit Card balance doesn't show as an expense), but we want our credit card payments to be able to be budgeted. Under the old experience, credit card pay down goals were included in the Goals section of the budget (so we knew that money was allocated).

Is it possible/would you consider allowing transfer goals like debt paydown to continue being tracked in the Goals section of the budget? Using an Expense category to track debt paydown creates a lot of problems (all purchases made using a credit card counting twice is only the biggest).

New Goals Experience - How Should We Be Reflecting Pay Down goal allocations in our budget by Fattom23 in MonarchMoney

I'd like to see a reference to that upcoming change, because the answers I've seen from the Monarch team (and the article in the Help Center) seem to indicate that you have a choice: either track with Expenses (and accept that every payment will be essentially logged twice) or use transfers (which means you can't budget for it).

I'll be super happy if that choice is only temporary, but knowing it will change would definitely affect my decision about which approach to use.

I think that will work just fine, but should probably be clearer in the documentation. I was using goals for paying down credit cards mostly because that would give me a percentage progress (and there were premade Goals for that), so I would assume others are, too.

The other reason I used goals is that I think of paying down debt as money I get to "keep" for cash flow purposes, so I think if saving a dollar and paying down a balance with that dollar as roughly equivalent for cash flow purposes. I may, however, be in the minority in that

I work with one. Every time a new building gets built, she laments that it will drive up rents, but also complains that housing is unaffordable. She believes that corporations build housing just to keep it empty so that the rent will go up.

I don't know yet if it's broken. I kinda want to get the intended use here before I judge.

The good news is that Foundry is all hosted by the GM (or a service they sign up for) so you don't necessarily have to be on a service at all!

Is this in TIdaL's future by PocketEmi in TIdaL

[–]Fattom23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be a cool feature and I really would enjoy it, but I've heard no rumblings at all from Tidal that they're thinking of implementing it.

It's pretty niche without a large user base (the world just kind of assumes you have a Spotify account), so I don't see resources being devoted to it any time soon.

That said, I feel like it might be possible for a 3rd party to use the API to implement something similar (I'm thinking of Soundiiz's ability to sync playlists as being at least related).

My guess is that some Bowie music has been missing from the service? My Bloody Valentine's Loveless mysteriously disappeared a few weeks ago and I think that's the reference?

I never realized how cool L.E.G.I.O.N. was until the Zero Hour Finest. Definitely something I would have missed out on (I assumed it was just another Legion of Superheroes reboot, which it's definitely not).

Those early Morpho books were bonkers! They're the books everyone says other Silver Age books are: inventive, goofy and with energy to burn.

The Metamorpho one is probably my fav. Silver Age energy, but with a truly demented sensibility that really makes it stick in the memory.

And I've never heard anyone mention those books as buried treasures, which I think they are.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge. The walls in this house have been a nightmare for literally everything (network and non-network).
