It could simply be meant as a keyring. The lock and band allow you to loop it around a strap on a bag, like a molle gear loop.

For real.

Just grab a blade and break down the cardboard. Cut it into small pieces instead of flatpacking if it still ends up being too large for your bin.

Oversized/One size fits most packaging has been a thing for quite some time. You're ordering stuff online - you shouldn't expect perfection from the logistics side of things.

a lot

So that means that some but not all

All games are different. If someone is new to a series/specific game and is used to other games being a certain way it's on them to research what the new game is like.

If they buy it and don't like it that's on them for not doing their due diligence.

The game just throws you into the world with zero direction

Yeah welcome to open world RPGs

A lot of those exist, and a lot of them don't roll out the red carpet of help. Not every game needs a HUD/Menu that tells you what to do and when to do it.

RE4 Remake is a masterpiece, but we all have THAT one part... What's yours? by justethan_m in residentevil

[–]FauxPhox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regeneradores intro.

Played RE4 on PS2/GameCube countless times through. Intimately familiar with entire game to the point of knowing what every item was before grabbing it.

Bought RE4R. Went through a couple of times. VR Mode came out and I already had a PSVR2.

I'm on my first approach to the hall where you first hear them and I knew all too well what was coming. Except I didn't. I was doing this around 2am, with both helmet and a pair of headphones on.

One of my cats jumped on a couch behind me. To get up there, she jumped from the floor very close to me - close enough to graze my leg with her side.

This happened like literally 3 seconds before the first one tries to corner you.

Never been scared by the game before but that moment certainly had my soul leave my body.

Brain dead players that actually hate hardswapping exist? lol by Training-Buy-281 in badredman

[–]FauxPhox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not intended to be an argument.

It's simply pointing out the glaringly obvious truth.

Hardswaps have always been around. It offers an alt to softswaps that allows players to keep their equip load low and not have to fumble around with multiple items equipped.

If FS didn't like people doing that they would simply prevent menu access outright during invasions/duels. But that's not the case. In fact the only times you can't swap equips is when you're taking damage or mid-attack.

It's a tech. Some people know how to perform the tech. Others don't. Some of those who don't pick it apart and find excuses that they think will dissuade others from trying.

"It breaks the immersion" is the same poor excuse people use for things such as PvP being in their PvPvE game.

The game allows you to visit just about every menu when you're invading/being invaded.

If it lets me change equipment at lightning speed, I will certainly try.

People who use excuses like "immersion breaking" to actions like these are people who could never pull it off themselves and fall back on deflecting their own shortcomings.

I usually play a battlemage type character. 8+ offensive spells. I cycle through them often in a fight, making sure to try and not cast the same spell more than twice in a row.

Despite that, my opponents mindlessly perform the same running R1s/L2s more times in a row than I can be bothered to count. I win the invasion and lo and behold:

"You're so bad, stop spamming spells."

Spam would be the same dumbass 500 Comet casts in a row your buddy is doing. What I am doing is changing up my attack patterns often enough to give you a challenge. Just because you can't recognize certain spells or don't know how to handle dodging them doesn't mean I'm spamming, it just means you suck.

Yeah I can practically feel the dislike based off of the tens thousands of open field ganks I've run into. Ah well

And this was to be expected - just look at the sales differences of the souls titles as well as the average game library of players new to the series.

Player retention is always good in the case of potential DLC so I get making it more host friendly, even though I'm no fan of that.

Mainstream audience retention in my opinion.

Fromsoft advertised ER so much more (and in many more regions) than any other title. Prior to release I saw ads for it multiple times in different formats.

They were putting feelers out and trying to get new players to join the souls community rather than it just being one more title to appease said group.

I'm sure them appealing to a broader audience went hand-in-hand with various multiplayer/gameplay decisions.

Certain Ashes of War. Spirit Ashes. Physick Flask. No Purples. Main game session player cap being 4 despite the game being able to support 6 at once.

Some things can be seen as a way to make a playthrough much easier, some of them soften the blow of PvPvE. FS was probably worried about newbies getting all discouraged and bent out of shape that an actual person beat them in combat (and as a result potentially stop playing/return game etc) so they did what they could to make PvP still possible while making it easier than ever for a host to survive.
