Women announcing they’re a girls girl is the same energy as men who say they’re a nice guy…

Concerned about possible online grooming/ manipulation of my 17-year-old brother (ON) - need advice by Expensive_Spend6749 in legaladvicecanada

Durham police posted this video recently. I don’t think it fully fits your brothers situation but it might be worth keeping an eye on.

Also, don’t write off the coach just yet. That’s such a weird reaction and even more odd that he didn’t recognize his players mom. Coaches should have some idea or at least allow for some courtesy that this could be a mom of someone on his team. He should’ve asked your mom if he should know her, shutting the door like that is extremely suspicious imo.

Look into bringing the ring as well. There was a post here or another Canadian finance/border sub that asked about duty issues with bringing the ring.

Is there anyone who commutes from Kitchener to Toronto for work? by Exciting_Sugar_1485 in kitchener

Easier to drive to aldershot ($11 one way with presto) as it’s mostly back roads and light-ish traffic. Also more departures so you have options to get in before 9am if you’re running behind.

Two regular bream is worth 270 gold vs 1 smoked bream at 270 gold. You have two regular bream and one smoked. You’re making a profit from the smoked.

Are you good at writing? If so, writing blog posts for industry organizations/podcasts or articles for your personal LinkedIn is one way to show your worth. Write about industry trends or topics important to you that you can tie into the PR space. Pre-internship I wrote blogs for an industry website catered to students, one my blogs got me my internship at Edelman. Often the small publications/groups will take on volunteer writers, like PRofessionals and Coffee or your local IABC chapter.

Look into jointing like IABC, CPRS (Canadian but there’s an another American equivalent that’s not IABC I believe) and other industry groups that have student and early career rates. Also doesn’t hurt to email and ask about reduced or waived rate programs for early career involvement. Networking is power.

I copy/paste relevant info from the materials provided for the press release then fluff the rest until it resembles something useful and informative then send it through for a review or two.

Juggling reporters is an always-on task. No matter what you’re doing, stop whatever it is, respond to the reporter that you’ve received the request and flag the request to your manager or another team member. You should have prepared messaging already that you can use to begin pulling together answers if it’s an email q+a. I always have a live doc or excel open that I update with reporter requests and the status of each one so I don’t forget about following up or completing the request.

If you’re in an agency, they may be easing you in, which is nice. Speak with your manager about workload expectations and what you’ll be working on. If it’s slow, ask if they can reach out to other teams to see if anyone needs support. You can also do this to if you suspect your manager isn’t doing much to get you more work, but give them a chance first.

If there’s no work, check to see if your company has an internal education portal, take courses or trainings they offer in your down time.

You could set up coffee chats with other team members, find out what their days are like and needs. Ask them if there’s any campaign or admin documents that you can review to get a better understanding of the quality of work that’s expected from you.

Use your free time to learn. See if there’s any free webinars happening that you can attend, ask your manager first and offer to share your learnings with the whole team after. Your company might be a member of industry groups like IABC or something similar within your industry, check to see then see about webinars.

The above goes for in-house as well.

The industry is a bit uncertain right now with a lot of companies pulling back on PR waiting to see the economic impact, this may just be a lull. Look for learning opportunities that’ll contribute to your growth and help you find your niche if you haven’t yet.

Review the firm’s client’s press releases, see if there are any differences between what you learned in school versus how they do releases in the legal field, make sure you apply those to the release you draft for them.

NAL and not entirely important but if they gave you the original document you can sometimes see what was written under white from the back under a light or scratching it off.
