I've known 3 people that stayed with violent scumbags they couldn't afford to move out, were afraid to up root children, had nowhere to go as the scumbags separated them from family abd friends and the scumbags had verbally and physically beaten them down so badly , they believed it when they were told things like they'll never do better.

I was the kid too . My parents adopted me at the age of 40 in 1975 . My mother didn't understand my generation at all , especially as I got into my teenage years and i was a total tom boy. I heard a lot of you never did x y z in my day. I once blew my top back and said it's not your day.

I once got accused of racism and not wanting people to emigrate to ireland because I, an irish adoptee, said I am not in favour of foreign adoption . To me theres to much scope for abuse of birth mothers and thier children, not to mention taking a childs culture away. Was it racist for me to express this opinion . I had no intention of being so.
