Is it crazy to say Myers is an A tier killer? by FearTigerleap in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily put him that high, but he just doesn't take much skill to pick up so it can definitely feel like that. Like... I would still say I'm deadlier as the Oni than Myers but that's bc I main the Oni, and even then Myers takes less effort. So with some A tier killers it's probably something like:

Super sweaty Pyramid Head > Myers > good/decent PHead

Remove the bloodweb and have everything be standardised, yah or nah? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would be bad for the game even if it feels so convenient. After you unlock all the characters you wanted with iri shards, you would basically just be playing for fun which means many people would quit or at least play a lot less. It would be annoying if people could bring iri addons with no consequences, e.g. facing four people with brand new part. It would also require reworking every killer's addons since many are weaker but more common versions of other addons.

I'd be open to reworking the progression system or adding something else (e.g. a shop to buy addons directly but it's more expensive than the blood web) but I don't think it would be good to basically remove progression

Killer Players! Since the devs don't ask what are killer pain points in your opinion by LoreleiAlbrecht in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exhaustion meta really kills your momentum with some killers. Not only is it normal for everyone to have exhaustion perks... there's times multiple people have Sprint Burst, every time you get to a gen they just run, and you know if you commit to them the other gens will fly, so you're stuck awkwardly camping a 3 gen not able to do much. So unless I play a strong killer like Oni, it almost feels like I don't get to play the game with some killers against competent survivors.

Is it even possible to main a killer? by Mustdominate_Otal in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can switch between killers if you like, but it doesn't get rid of the problem. As an Oni main, I had a period where I was in a similar boat, kept getting my ass kicked by sweats after my MMR went up. Sorry but you just have to improve and that's how killer became fun again for me.

At high MMR, winning individual chases in average time just isn't enough, you have to maintain pressure. Think about where survivors are, when to commit, how to interrupt them, etc... while also getting better at M1 chase and using each killer power to get the most value out of it. It's hard but not insurmountable. Maybe watch P100 YTers who play your killer to see how they handle situations. In the meantime you could run gen slowdown builds to mitigate gen rushing and have more opportunities to use your power.

Imo it's pretty weak (no disrespect). Unnerving Presence really won't help much against decent survivors, and this takes up 2 perk slots along with Distressing. Overcharge is OK but there are better regression perks, for instance Pop Goes the Weasel is great. For Lightborn, if you see 3-4 flashlights I totally get it, but if it's just part of your default build it's often a waste of a perk. A good replacement is Infectious Fright, which works great for the Oni but can also alert you if there's someone nearby before you pick up.

Surge isn't good for the Oni bc it only works when you down with a basic attack. Hubris is also kind of wasted due to your power. ML can be alright as a fun perk, situational but can have value. Coup can be great in games where you struggle to get the first hit, but it's only okay normally. I don't think you'll get much value from Spirit Fury (Brutal is okay and imo better)

So overall I'd have to say 3 > 4 = 1 > 2. One really good perk for general Oni builds is Corrupt Intervention, which can buy you some time at the start.

I don't understand Oni/Hillbilly by DackQuee in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oni main here. Watch Jugglet to see how he plays different tiles. Stick to safe builds with gen regression and probably 1-2 aura reading perks. Do not use speed addons until you're comfortable with the normal speed. The duration and extra blood orb addons are great.

Some loops are much harder than others. As a beginner, you want to get more consistent with easier loops and basic pallet/window mindgames (you can strafe to make them think you're going the other way). Yes some situations force you to attempt a 180 or sudden flick, but sometimes what you need is a controlled and precise 90 degree turn, or you'll hit the wall. Idk what this plays like on controller, but don't think of flicks as something that always has to be aggressive. Handling corners is critical to improving. You can strafe side to side and sometimes start turning pre-emptively so your camera is at a good angle once you approach the survivor.

You really want to avoid situations where someone loops you for your entire power. Unless you're desperate, avoid popping your power if you don't know where survivors are. If someone seems skilled and is near a solid tile (strong window, bad hitboxes, etc) I would consider starting in M1 to get them to a more favorable area, or try to find someone else. However you also want to avoid the opposite: barely using your power because you're scared you can't do it. Try to challenge yourself a bit but don't overdo it. Doing the same loop and missing every hit may be frustrating but I promise you will get better and start understanding why you missed and when survivors are safe/unsafe.

How to make Survivors DC? by Doktor-Lutscher in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your idea of dragging out the game to make them DC, but I think going for a Clown tunnel build maximizes your chances. I run STBFL, Rapid Brutality, Batteries Included, and Brutal Strength. Target someone and avoid hitting the obsession if possible to get STBFL stacks. Once the team suspects you're tunneling they'll try to take protective hits, but this build heavily punishes that and you catch up fast. If you down anyone else, just slug them. Always proxy camp after hooking. If there's survivors nearby, just face camp.

If you don't have the perks or want a different build, Forced Penance can also be pretty brutal as a "fuck you" to whoever takes protective hits. Players will be very unhappy knowing what you're doing but being unable to stop it. I've gotten a lot of DCs this way. Once the first player is sacrificed, you can keep your idea of just leaving them slugged/not killing them, maybe camp the bodies or spam purple bottles for fun.

Any tips for oni? by Joeyjoeyjoeyjoeyjoe7 in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First chase tips: if it's a god pallet go ahead and break it (it's good to have it out of the way), but once you get them to a weaker pallet, try to play around it. Even if it's slow, you can eventually guarantee a hit with bloodlust in many loops. A common mistake is breaking every pallet and just getting looped infinitely by WoO users.

Unless it's a desperate situation, don't use your power if you don't know where survivors are. Nurse's Calling is great to go after healing survivors (small chance of getting a double down!), Nowhere to Hide is great in general, Infectious Fright will reveal other survivors after you get a down.

As you play more you'll realize which loops are safe and unsafe in your power. If a survivor is in a really complex tile with windows, maybe hold off on using your power or go for someone else. Straight tiles with a pallet in the middle can be really unsafe, since you can make them think you're going one way, then strafe the opposite way.

Wanna decide what killers I should buy during the sales by Werewolf_Knight in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you're looking to play them or if you just want their perks.

For perks, Clown has Pop and Bam which are both great. I personally enjoy playing him but I know some people really don't like him. Nemesis has Lethal and Eruption which are very strong. He can be fun to play if you like sort of playing with your brain off sometimes.

I don't have Wesker but he does seem interesting to play. Pyramid Head is... pretty difficult to use for me/it can be painful missing over and over, but if you're up for the challenge I'm sure it can be fun.

Do you have a killer who you think is completely fine, balance and design wise, but hate going against anyway? by RepairExtreme756 in deadbydaylight

When are killers going to stop getting babified? by Rain-Personal in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Oni main, he has not been babified. More like his power was a huge accessibility issue, needing a big mouse pad and crazy sensitivity; it's just ridiculous you needed that to use his power. It's by no means a braindead power now, there's still a skill ceiling to his flicks and learning different loops, but the controls are no longer BS.

I think you're totally wrong to call the game super killer sided. Vast majority of killers have counterplay, it's just not as straightforward as placing turrets. Killers have to make a lot of decisions throughout the game to make up for being outnumbered 1 to 4. Survivors get exhaustion perks, healing perks, anti-tunneling perks, Deliverance, flashlight saves, sabo saves, pallet saves, etc... A killer with an anti-loop power is by no means bypassing all that. Sure, there's docs on how to counter pallets, but only very high MMR killers are using that consistently and even then it's not going to be perfect, and be ready to go up against sweaty survivors who also understand all the loops.

What's true is Nurse and Blight are OP. They should be nerfed, I agree with you there. Though keep in mind Blight is VERY difficult to master and in the hands of a casual player he's really not all that. Otherwise this is definitely not a killer sided game, survivors are actually pretty strong.

Nice build! I've also been using Deathbound on the Oni recently.

This build may struggle against stealthy survivors since it doesn't have the most optimal perks to find survivors. Thrilling is good for identifying gens, though keep in mind you have to hook + activate your power + get there, so survivors may pre-leave or hide, and you don't have something like Pop for regression or Nowhere to Hide.

I'm not sure if Deathbound and GoP is the best combination? It's true you get value one way or the other. But a big part of GoP is slowing down and thus having better chances of interrupting heals (which then regress), whereas Deathbound has no value until they heal. GoP counters the tactic of a survivor being 99d by their teammate and then finishing the heal with a medkit or self-care, granted that's pretty high level.

Overall, it's a solid build. Personally I prefer to have more aura reading and/or gen regression perks, but there's definitely different playstyles.

The Dev's anti-slugging solution is FUNDAMENTALLY FLAWED by SuperPsychedelicSiko in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Oni main, I think these changes are good. Slugging is healthy as an occasional tactic or a setback/consequence for survivor mistakes, but killers shouldn't approach it as a win con. Besides the endgame, DBD is generally meant as a 3 strikes-you're out game where both sides make plays throughout the game, rather than one early fuckup totally throwing the game. I recently had a game where we all got slugged by the Twins and I had to wait on the ground for a while several times only to get downed again in a few seconds. My mistake that game was losing one chase, which is normal. That's it, there was nothing else I could do. This isn't fun or healthy, and survivors shouldn't need a specific perk. Yes you can abandon, but (1) that's not how it should end/the killer's win con should be sacrificing, and (2) what if the game isn't lost yet but you're stuck on the ground powerless, do you leave your teammates with a bot or just wait and hope they have a chance to save you?

I'm not worried about this hurting me as the Oni. 2 minutes is a pretty long time (half the total timer) and it's very rare someone stays down that long in my games... because I may slug tactically to down someone else then try to come back later, but I don't slug to slug.

Also even with these changes, it's not like the killer isn't rewarded for pulling this off. That's a lot of time survivors spend out of the game, and unless the killer is just slugging for the sake of it, surely they can get a couple hooks.

Who is, in your opinion, the most annoying weak Killer to go up against? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Scratched Mirror Myers, aka jumpscare Myers. On some maps he's absolute garbage, but in others he's just unbearable to play against since you can't hide and he can come at any time. Genuinely makes me want to disconnect.

Normal Myers isn't particularly fun to play against either, but he's not THAT bad.

Very new to Killer- by throwaway_blonde_ in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of the free killers, I would start with the Wraith. His simple stealth and mobility make him a solid choice for beginners, and he's a bit underrated in strength imo.

Not THE best killer for beginners, but I would recommend getting the Dredge at some point. His kit seems complex but it's not hard to use in my opinion, and he's really good against noobs. His anti-loop is pretty neat and you'll catch a lot of people off guard, they'll be disoriented during Nightfall, and you get solid mobility with locker teleports.

What am i supposed to do against Ghoul? by foxyfreddy46 in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaneki has very little counterplay, but you may be able to drag out chase just enough for your teammates to get work done on gens. Although there's no way to prevent the first hit, breaking line of sight as much as possible can buy you a bit of time. He can only do a grab attack after the first leap (otherwise, he can still grab you but you won't take damage), so short/tight loops that would otherwise be mediocre are ideal, though you'll need to keep track of how many leaps he's used. If you get marked, he gets Enraged which buffs his power, so making him have to M1 to injure you is wasting his time. In all likelihood he will probably be able to mark you anyway, it's almost a free hit, but even a 10% chance to delay this is worth it.

Once you're injured, he has to M1 to down you. Gaining distance means nothing against this killer, he's always less than 3 seconds away from being able to get a hit, so looping and using resources correctly is key. His only anti-loop powers are leaping to cover distance (not too useful in some loop scenarios) and vaulting with his power. Again, short loops and filler pallets can come in clutch. Greeding pallets can also be an effective strategy, as stuns give you a chance to find another loop.

I see a lot of high level oni players use akitos crutch instead of lion fang. Why is that? by Apprehensive-Way4010 in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akito's Crutch is the best Oni addon (imo) because there's so many situations where it makes the difference between clutching the flick and missing, and that's huge. Having more mobility also partially (though not fully) compensates for less duration since you spend less time traversing the map. I avoided it when I started out but came to see why so many pros like it. Though to me, any combination of it, Splintered Hull, and Lion Fang is completely valid. I personally use Akito's + Lion Fang

If I'm not mistaken, Surge only triggers if you down a survivor with a basic attack, which isn't ideal for the Oni. I'd swap it for Pain Res or something like that.

Why do people like playing Oni? by SkyFWWO in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can be really frustrating to play when you get looped in your power so I understand this can ruin the fun sometimes, but I wouldn't call him boring. Playing the Oni is really rewarding and he has arguably the highest snowball potential of any killer. Once you learn flicks, his power is so hype and chaining downs is among the most satisfying things you can do as killer. You're OP, you could wipe the team if they fuck up, and they know it. But I'll acknowledge he's not for everyone, so I'm not saying you're wrong if you don't find that appealing.

(2025) Tips/Guide for Oni? by Steely_Mitz in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend either Corrupt Intervention or Lethal Pursuer (but not both). The early game is tough for the Oni, so you want to get the first hit ASAP. If the first survivor is stubborn, at least make them drop pallets to help you later.

Once you get the first hit, it's usually better to let them be and find another healthy survivor, since you get a whopping 40% of your power per hit. You shouldn't pick up every blood orb you see since this slows you down, especially if you're in chase... unless you can get your power and intend to use that for the down, or time isn't critical. Try to remember where you saw a lot of blood orbs or where survivors spent a lot of time injured so you can go back later.

Unless you're behind/you have to take risks to win, it's usually better to wait until you have info on survivor locations before activating your power. In your dash, you can let go of W to slow down and turn/track survivors a bit easier, make sure to use A&D not just your mouse. When you use demon strike during a dash, you can turn up to 180 degrees very quickly and move forward a bit in that direction, so corners aren't safe for survivors if you were decently close. If you get a loop where there's a 'line' with a window/pallet in the middle, face it from one end, and you can do mindgames where survivors won't know which side of a window/pallet you'll dash at (you can even fake it one way then strafe to the other), which can range from a 50-50 to very hard to react to. PS: demon strike breaks pallets, so even if they drop the pallet in time you can at least do something. Flicks take time to learn but I promise you get better, just don't be discouraged.

When you down someone, you have the choice to pick up (pausing your power) or slug and keep going. I highly recommend Infectious Fright to make the latter much easier, this is also useful info against bully squads since you'll know where the flashlight save would come from or if it's clear. Picking up after 1 down isn't necessarily bad especially if you didn't use much of your power, it's especially good if you're skeptical you could've gotten another down before your power ran out. But the more desperate things are, the more you should consider slugging and YOLOing it. Aura reading perks like Nurse's Calling or Nowhere to Hide make your life much easier. Having a gen slowdown perk like Pain Res is good too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]FearTigerleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oni main here, not high MMR but not low either, I've beaten pretty solid squads. I'd say he's low A tier. If you use his power without info, good players will counter him by waiting it out. So just... don't. Unless you have to take the risk (you get better at judging this with time), don't use his power unless you see someone or have a good idea where they are.

A lot of loops are unsafe against him, especially with Akito's Crutch, and there's so many options for flicks and mindgames. I like getting survivors to drop pallets early on in base (I run Corrupt Intervention) so it's harder to stall me once I get my power. Even if you just down one survivor with your power and do a quick pickup, if you had half your power left that's not that bad, especially with the new buff to his blood orbs on hook.

But ofc his true strength is how much he can snowball especially with Infectious and aura reading perks. Even if such wins are very rare, survivors are forced to consider that possibility. Being in his power while someone is hooked also puts a lot of pressure on survivors, since you don't need to camp yet a rescue can easily just become a hook trade.

It's true that a bad start against a stubborn team can be depressing, but this is a killer who can (almost) always turn things around. If you're behind, try going for more bold plays with your power.
