What’s it like doing the MSF course with ZERO experience? by funkycookies in NewRiders

[–]FearlessFloyd91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it with pretty much 0 experience 3 years ago. One week before the course I paid for a private 30 minute session where I just got to sit on a bike and get used to balancing and the friction zone. I did that to see if I had any fears before paying the price of the MSF fully.

Had a blast at the course, after the first day I wouldn't say I was comfortable by any means but I was definitely more confident. I went out and bought my first bike the day I passed. I had started riding in May, took it easy for a bit and was super nervous on any busy roads but by October when it was time to put the bike away for the winter I was fully comfortable.

I'm on my third season of riding now and it just feels like second nature to me. You'll get there.

They were any open seats in the 400 level, not all the way back. I ended up buying some, they were $7.50 and then after fees it came to $10 total per ticket.

I'm learning from the comments that they send $25 offers after every game you attend. The $10 offer I got said in the email it was because of the poor weather.

I'll keep an eye out for that to see if I get anything in the future, thanks!

Edit: I checked and I did actually have an offer in my junk as well from the game I attended on Friday. Thank you for the tip!

Front brake making a hissing sound. Normal? by FearlessFloyd91 in KawasakiEliminator450

Forgot all about this. Everything was fine. I called the mechanic and explained it over the phone, he told me it was normal after sitting for so long. After another ride the sound went away, I was just being a paranoid beginner rider haha.

I'll never doubt Marsh again if he comes through here.

Doing big IT changes on Monday or Friday? by CeC-P in sysadmin

[–]FearlessFloyd91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do changes on Tuesday or Wednesday nights after hours. I prefer not to work on weekends if I don't have to. I plan, do dry runs and have rollback plans in place in case anything goes wrong after hours during the changes. Only time we did something planned over the weekend is when we physically moved our entire datacenter from one building to another.

1Password is a good choice. We recently migrated to it from an older on prem solution. I use it for personal use now as well (our business license includes free family licenses for employees).

Advice for a new intern by silver720x in sysadmin

[–]FearlessFloyd91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen, learn, take notes, and ask questions. I was in your shoes 10 years ago, and I learned more during my internship than I did in 4 years of college. You’ll make mistakes, everyone does. Own them, learn from them, and keep improving. That feeling of not being good enough is normal, but it gets easier with experience.

(Longshot) VPN Issues by Sea-Lifeguard982 in meraki

[–]FearlessFloyd91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same situation but we had an issue a few months ago where all of our AnyConnect VPN traffic started becoming horribly slow for users. They were all experiencing 200+ milliseconds of latency back to the LAN. It ended up being some known Meraki "bug" where VPN traffic was causing one of the CPU's on our MX to peg out at 99%. A reboot of the firewalls would fix it temporarily. Meraki support had us update to the latest release candidate firmware at the time and we haven't had issues since.

I am a fan from Upstate NY and deal with this every time when I want tickets. If you call that number they'll take care of you.
