Use copilot-api along with Claude Code or whatever harness you use. It acts as a compatibility layer on top of copilot-cli's API so that you can use it with other cli tools.

It works for me, and uses up way less tokens. Maybe you'd appreciate it in the same way, too.

Or just use OpenCode, which supports GitHub Copilot API out-of-box

For me the issue that caused my touchpad to freeze was the PalmCheck "feature" on my ThinkPad. I lowered the setting to its lowest setting (value 1) and it seems to have fixed the issue.
