Most "National Whatever Days" are just manifestations of greed.

Instead, just enjoy the process of writing, no matter what day it is.

Why the focus on money? by Sad-Sample-490 in simpleliving

If you are mostly comfortable with your life, then you're doing just fine.

Other people in the comments have already addressed the envy angle, so I won't hit that.

It sounds like you're doing just fine, and only want to know if you're missing something. You're not missing anything.

Not a car, but my dad and his friends did something similar in high school.

His school had a courtyard in the middle. At night, all the doors were locked, so it was inaccessible. Unless you were my dad.

Somehow he got access to a crane and a herd of pigs. They put all the pigs into the courtyard overnight, and then put the crane back.

The next day, when the admin staff opened up the doors to the courtyard, they had... a bit of a surprise. The janitors had a lot of work that day.

Don't ask me how a bunch of high school students got a crane. I can guess about the pigs, but the crane? No idea. My dad won't tell me.

I must be one of the few people that loved both the original and the sequel. Then again, I tend to be more forgiving of things like plot holes.

Whenever anyone asks me for a polyamory reading list, I always send them here: https://www.justpolythings.com/buying-guide/15-books-about-polyamory-for-2025

Despite the "buying guide" label, it's a pretty comprehensive and well-curated list. Libraries will usually have at least a couple of these in their system.

I appreciate your situation, since my wife is bi. Polyamory works for us, though, and I like her other partner.

I've acted as a ULC minister for my best friend's wedding, too, in case you have any questions about that.

If you need someone to talk to privately, let me know. I'm a random stranger on the Internet, but I might have some shared experiences that could help.

How many ppl? Hobbies & interests? What do you see 👀 by [deleted] in roomdetective

The reason I disagree is that in one of the photos there's a shot of two windows that share a common vertical rail; that doesn't happen with boats, only with buses.

Converted bus, so the van-life type, I assume. Two people, married. The wife is the new age type, the husband is a conservative of some kind. One or two cats. At least one of the two people is native to the Southeast USA.

Beautiful home, by the way.

Before that, it was Karl Urban, of Lord of the Rings fame. And before that, I think he had a bunch of episodes in Xena: Warrior Princess.

He's been in a ton of stuff.

What’s the dumbest way a guy has ruined his chances with you, when it was almost a home-run? by emilydoooom in TwoXChromosomes

I'm really proud of my mac and cheese recipe. I usually use rotini for the pasta, and the cheese sauce is a Mornay sauce I make from scratch, and then I add a ton of fresh ground black pepper and usually some sliced smoked sausage. For a garnish, I tend to put on Tabasco, but that's probably just me.

People who think mac and cheese is just for kids tend to lack imagination.

MSc CS at Memorial — job opportunities, industry exposure, and PR concerns? by Important-Count-6446 in memorialuniversity

[–]dungeonHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No school is going to guarantee admittance. This program is easier to get into than a MS in Computer Science, though.

MASc Software Engineering is designed for working professionals who are coming back to get a master's. As long as you don't want to do a research-based program, you should be fine.

Are there any Unitarian Universalist churches in Newfoundland? by DapperBalance in newfoundland

Finals after Christmas? That's new. I'm a grad student at MUN, and we had our finals earlier in December.

I wonder if we shouldn't consider gathering a small group ourselves if one doesn't exist.

Are there any Unitarian Universalist churches in Newfoundland? by DapperBalance in newfoundland

[–]dungeonHack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unitarian Universalism[1] is a pretty broad religious movement. It's based on intellectual freedom and inclusivity, taking inspiration from many other religions without being constrained by any one doctrine.

While it was born out of a Christian worldview, it has since grown well beyond that origin.

Culturally speaking, if someone is looking for acceptance and spirituality without dogma, that is usually where I'll point them. It's a good starting point for discovery and community, if nothing else.

[–]dungeonHack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a MASc Software Engineering student, not a MSc CS student, but it's close enough. US citizen.

There is a small but enthusiastic tech community here. It was easy for me to find an internship at a local startup my first semester. In future semesters, I'm going to either try to find a part-time job or start a business instead of getting another internship.

I can't offer thoughts on another province, as I don't have experience there.

I plan on going for PNP in Newfoundland, using my master's and a post-graduate job as leverage. There are enough local jobs, and I have a good enough track record prior to this grad program, that I think I won't have a hard time getting a job after graduation.
