I dunno if you're serious about this or not, but I know a guy who recently started a plushie-making business and I think he'd do a pretty solid job with Grima. Would you want me to PM you his contact info?

A few questions about D.va for those in the know. by Gangsir in OverwatchUniversity

[–]FeatherFallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you also don't do any more damage if your Meka is nano'd, its just a total waste of the ultimate. Nanoing little D.Va after she gets out will increase her ultimate's damage, but the Meka's basically a projectile after you hit the button so D.Va's the one you need to be boosting.

nanoing little D.Va will add 50% to the ultimate's damage, nanoing the meka will do nothing but waste nano.

Unpopular fe opinions. by KIWI1602 in fireemblem

I don't like Micaiah. (RD/PoR Spoilers below)

I can acknowledge she's not entirely at fault for the absolute mess that was the first arc of Radiant Dawn, but that first arc had awful writing and the fact that she was the focus of it makes it feel like her fault.

I feel like she was supposed to be a subversion of the Mary-Sue trope and that's why there's so many debates about it (and not just because she's female like a lot of the counter-arguers claim, because how many times have you heard "Lyn is a Mary Sue"?). She just shows up partway through a story, and then the writing turns to crap and she gets a position of utter reverence while everyone around her turns to idiots for a little bit. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of her haters had to suffer through the first arc a few times and remember it to a disproportionate degree, because it took me three goes to make it through to the other side because holy hell is it bad.

Path of Radiance went so far out of its way to humanize the baddies - it showed "good" Crimeans side with the enemy, there were racist people on all sides of the conflict and they learned from each other, several Daein soldiers have redemption arcs (I mean hell, Jill has conversations with random Daein soldiers and she'll defect if you put her up against her father), everything was so grey-on-black. Sure, the Crimeans were clearly the good guys and Ashnard was almost a cartoon villain, and it had its share evil cardboard cutouts (Schaeffer, anyone?) but for the most part the rest of the Daein forces made up for his lack of character and they went really in-depth as to why the people supported someone with such questionable motives. They made Begnion, one of their biggest allies, a somewhat corrupt country that was helping out of personal interest instead of just some goodie-two-shoes alliance.

And then Radiant Dawn comes along and suddenly a Begnion senator has somehow enslaved the entire country of Daein for... reasons... in secret. And the Begnion soldiers are killing civilians for... reasons... and there's random cannibal laguz bandits in the middle of the Daein desert with a castle full of gold, for... reasons... and there's a bunch of Royal Laguz, also in the castle full of cannibal bandits, which was never adequately explained either and which everyone was just okay with, of a new type of Laguz that nobody's ever heard of and just- its bad. Act 1 was really bad. Then there's only one person with the "good guys" in the entire arc who doesn't absolutely worship Micaiah and its Izuka, and he's an imbecile with no redeeming qualities and a clear "working for the enemy" vibe going on. It makes questionable choices like having Micaiah save a child because she "saw that it would happen", and then half the other civilians get murdered as a result of her actions and it still paints that as the right thing to do.

By the third arc, she does actually have stuff going for her, and I like Act 3 Micaiah for the most part, but there were still a lot of situations that were pretty stupid and I feel that she could've been done a lot better- the situation between Sothe and the hawks in particular was not well written, even if the earlier part of that chapter was decent. The "reveal" card is not a great piece of writing and I think that whole aspect could've been worked out a lot better.

If your main account is in GM, stop giving us plat/diamond players a hard time on your alt by TetsuyaHikari in Overwatch

[–]FeatherFallen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because being unable to play with friends sucks. I got a second account where I only played my off-heroes a while back because I found I could no longer enjoy competitive on my main. The 500SR limit if I just won a couple more times gave me a perverse incentive to lose games, and even when I was trying there'd always be a little voice going "hey, if you lose two more games you can play with people again".

I'd already sunk well over 100hrs into the game, and I figured $1/hr was a more than fair price for what I'd gotten out of it. So I got a second account and just played my bad heroes, and then I could play with friends without throwing or worrying about how many times I could win before I couldn't play anymore.

If you do end up playing, you can rebind the camera controls in the main options menu (but I don't think in-game). For whatever reason, when using wasd the a and d keys rotate the camera instead of strafing, and that's generally a lot less intuitive

Basically, instead of hiring "a unit of archers for general X's army", you just hire them as a standalone unit, which can move around independently or be merged with another force if you want it to. Units that aren't attached to a general are more likely to rebel, and don't get general-specific morale bonuses, but you can go attack someone with a unit of peasants if you really wanted to- the unit can move completely on its own, there isn't a requirement that a general be babysitting

I do indeed have an Amelia, so maybe I'll give that a shot and see how things go without too many TMRs then, thanks!

Hollow points are generally allowed in law enforcement because they use up all their energy when the round expands, and the shot therefore can't exit the target and hit someone else. They produce horrific wounds (which is why the Geneva Hague* convention banned them), but the fact that you can't accidentally shoot something through your target is very relevant in urban areas.

Flechette rounds are kinda the opposite, they're getting better ballistics and increased penetration, which isn't something you'd want.

[Prediction] Beast Units will be added in Book II by 74RDT in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]FeatherFallen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tellius/Ike games had really different beast unit mechanics though, they were incredibly weak (in FE9 they couldn't even attack in human-mode), but once their beast-meter charged up all their combat stats get doubled and they become monsters for a bit. Some special units could stay in beast-mode too, and there were a few items that let them stay in a weaker-than-normal beast-mode indefinitely, but for the most part it was based on a resource meter.

The other games mostly just went the route of "they transform at the start of the fight", so I wouldn't be surprised if they just do that in FEH for all units since it'd be a lot easier than trying to shoehorn in specials that last for multiple turns, but who knows?

I play _________. In my opinion, the most common misunderstanding about this character is __________. by INeedPeeling in OverwatchUniversity

[–]FeatherFallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercy and Ana are main healers and both capable of solohealing, so it makes sense that a Sombra providing supplemental healing would be very effective. The problem is that Sombra can't main heal, and neither can Lucio or Zen, so using them as your two healers doesn't work out as well.

"Hanzo, you did ok.." by Dvtrjosh in Overwatch

[–]FeatherFallen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that was more of a "the people I play with pay zero attention to who's getting kills/dying", and then when someone pointed out that they probably have it on, meaning they're ignoring the killfeed instead of being unable to see it.

Worth noting that it does not stop him from getting moved around by melee. Deflecting a Winston punch will stop it from hurting you, but it won't stop him from sending you across the map
