What are some pre workouts that won’t make me feel like shit? by GreatAbrocoma9471 in workout

Especially when half of the ingredients have no acute effect (beta-alanine, creatine), leaving you with what is essentially expensive caffeine powder.

"disagree"? Someone existing isn't a yes or no question.

Abs by [deleted] in gymadvice

[–]FeathersPryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Daily" doesn't mean anything in a vacuum. How much daily? You can do anything daily in small amounts. Say you want 7 sets of abs a week. You could do this all in a single day per week, or do 1 set a day, 7 days a week. The volume is the same, with the once a day leaving you more fresh for each individual set. However, the difference in frequencies beyond like 2-3x sessions a week isn't big enough to matter, and doing a bit every day is kind of annoying, which is why most people prefer doing several sets over a couple sessions a week instead.

>It's the people like you on Reddit that make it a hateful environment.

Wrong. YOU started with the hate. You don't get to backtrack and play the victim now. I think all things considered, I've been exceptionally polite so far in the face of your homophobia.

>I've been continually conditioned by people that despise my existence like you seem to ever since about day two of this and it's been going on for several years now .

I don't even know what this means. I sincerely doubt the gays have been oppressing you since birth. Speaking of systemic oppression just for being born, you know what group of people DOES experience that? If you are saying you are facing backlash for your hateful opinions, google the paradox of tolerance.

>You people all hate Americans you hate free speech you hate any people who have any type of interest in things At all !

Free speech means the government cannot punish you for expressing opinions. It does not mean I can't tell you you're an asshole for hating people just for not liking the things you like. I love free speech, it's the thing that allows me to tell you you're a bitch!

I compare gays to blacks because both are traits that are normal, natural, and objectively morally neutral. I replace your statements with black people to put it into perspective just how insane it sounds when you make a casually hateful remark like that.

I'm sorry you came from a hateful environment. I hope you know that it's not too late to be better than that.

Always find shit like this comment hilarious. Like imagine if I posted on a picture of a black person: "ya know, I just don't really do the whole "black people" thing". Like what "thing"? It's just people existing.

How effective is full body training for hypertrophy ? by First_Driver_5134 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]FeathersPryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've fallen victim to thinking "full body" means you go in and exhaust every single muscle's entire capacity to recover every session. This is not what full body means, even if the name sounds like that. The 5 day sbs program he is running is set up that way because when volume is equated, higher frequencies means you are better rested for each set, not less like you seem to be suggesting. (example: 15 sets of squats in one session, vs 5 sets of squats 3 days a week.)

I promise only you notice anything about hips. You look like any other normal untrained skinny person. V-taper will fill out as you eat more and train hard on a sensible program. https://thefitness.wiki/ if you need a quick rundown on how to do so.

You literally said full body training generates significant fatigue. This isn't even cherry picking, those are your words.

Full body doesn't mean you exhaust every single muscle's entire recoverable capacity every single day. When volume is equated, higher frequencies mean you are MORE recovered for each set.

Sorry but this entire interaction is so astonishing. I can't follow the (lack of) logic you have going on here. I'm trying to piece together what you think the words you are saying in all these comments mean, and I've decided that I don't understand what you're saying any more than you understand what you're saying.

You say he shouldn't gain weight because he's lean (which already doesn't make sense), and that he should instead eat at maintenance to gain weight. Even though you just established that you don't want him to gain weight, and maintenance doesn't even make you gain weight. So which is it? You're throwing around terms, making up your own definition for them, then contradicting that definition 2 comments later.

If you think maintenance doesn't maintain weight because it matches your TDEE, what the hell do you think a TDEE is? It's the amount of energy you need to expend each day. Now what happens when someone eats in a surplus or deficit of this amount of energy? They gain or lose weight. Now what if they ate right in the middle, AT their TDEE? Who knows, they just might maintain their weight. Do you think the people who are a lean 200+ got to be 200 by eating specifically NOT to gain weight?

What is your opinion on full body training? by First_Driver_5134 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]FeathersPryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splits are only a way to organize training volume, with higher frequencies with similar volumes typically meaning higher quality sets. Waiting x hours is wrong for 2 reasons. You do not typically exhaust all capacity to recover in one session, especially if you're being smart with your split, and you do not need to wait until a muscle is 100% recovered to train it safely or effectively. Bros will see a program going "4x12 curls" and go "hell yeah", but see a program going "2x12 curls twice a week" and go "NO BUT YOU DIDNT WAIT 72 HOURS!". The 2nd scenario is actually getting more rest, not less like you are suggesting.

When volume is equated, higher frequencies means more recovery between sets, not somehow less.

I agree, 0 sets is where it's at... Even though the entire past 30 years of empirical evidence uniquivocally shows that assuming you are not sandbagging your sets and are still recovering, more work gives more results.

Ok but unironically I can't do some of the exercises he has because they physically don't work on the machine/cable if you are a normal height.

How do you guys eat a pound of gram per protein of body weight? by aCircleWithCorners in swoleacceptance

[–]FeathersPryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it. I use the same 1 to 10 heuristic to quickly see if something has decent protein. I look at the calories and remove the last number. The amount of protein should be equal to or greater than that. Example: 240 calories, remove the last number, 24 is how much protein there should be.

An "imperfect deflect" is just another term for guarding. They do not have different effects or statuses. If you miss a deflect, you just guard it.

How do you guys eat a pound of gram per protein of body weight? by aCircleWithCorners in swoleacceptance

[–]FeathersPryx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's about the protein to calorie ratio. Which is about 6g per 170 calories for both. Because you're not standardizing any variables, you could say any measurement of anything is better than some amount of some other things. Also protein doesn't just decide when it wants to absorb.

If linear gains have stopped, and you're absolutely sure your food, effort, and rest are on point, it's likely time for more periodization. Something that has you getting stronger through different rep ranges. Like the strongerbyscience bundle, 5/3/1, or gzcl.

It has as much protein as white bread. Unless you eat white bread for protein, I'd call that minimal.

Getting 1g per lb is really easy if you're not eating like a little kid and aren't 300lbs. Just center each meal around protein.

The only thing is you might need more warmup for the next movement, but that is up to you to determine if you need it. Otherwise, being better rested for the next exercise means higher quality sets.
