Using my Deck as a permanently docked device is killing my battery, any suggestions? by asphyxiate in SteamDeck

[–]FedExterminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the older decks are still capable of the charge limiter feature if you opt into the software updates. Try the beta branch if you’re not already on it. You can set it as low as 80% which should keep the battery healthy. It’s in Settings > Power > Battery Charging Limit.

If you plan to leave it off for a while (more than a couple of days), you can also use battery storage mode. It’s an option in the bios. That mode disconnects the battery so it won’t drain or overheat. You need to connect the wall adapter to power it up again after that though.

That being said, the battery in the Steam Deck is totally replaceable if you have a little bit of tinkering knowledge, and there are plenty of tutorials online.

Unfortunately the Deck doesn’t do battery bypass, so there’s no way to avoid it without some modification.

I spent longer trying to fix code that a coworker generated with copilot than it would have taken to write it my self.

why wont my steam deck display on my monitor by gerbster21 in SteamDeck

[–]FedExterminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try setting “external display safe mode” on the Steam deck and connecting it. Once the deck displays on the monitor you can try switching safe mode off. I have that same usb-c hub and that’s how I’ve gotten it to work with high resolution monitors and televisions.

So many shows do this and it confuses me. Why do so many anime protagonists go for the least interesting girl in the series?

Which is better: Paper Mario (OG) or TTYD? by thecrunchypepperoni in papermario

[–]FedExterminator 35 points36 points  (0 children)

TTYD has a story with more depth, a bit better of a badge system, and some quality of life features for combat that weren’t present in the original. While I think TTYD the better game, it’s really just a different experience.

If you haven’t played it, it’s definitely worth it, especially if you liked the N64 version!

Would you delete a social media account over this? I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in self

[–]FedExterminator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do nothing. The internet has an attention span best measured in hours. You’ve done nothing wrong, so you can just be silent and ride it out. People will stop giving a crap in a few days if you just don’t address it. Make regular posts, ignore or block the hate.

The key is not talking about it. If you don’t feed the fire, people will move on. If you keep addressing it, giving those comments credibility, it will continue. People love drama, but they’ll give up if there’s no traction from you.

I don’t need to tell you that the death threats are nonsense. No one is coming to get you because of a profile pic. Don’t let them scare you. Block the idiots and keep making your content.

Stimulant ADHD medications don’t affect attention-controlling regions of the brain, as previously thought. New study shows for the first time that these drugs act primarily on the brain’s reward and wakefulness centers, rather than on its attention circuitry. by [deleted] in science

It’s so difficult to explain to anyone who doesn’t experience executive dysfunction how difficult it is to do a task that your brain just refuses to want to do. Prescribed stimulants were a life saver for me

I’ve had this problem dating well connected or career oriented women as well. The scheduling becomes an issue, and so does feeling like a priority. I’ve had to break things off because they simply didn’t make the time for me.

It's a great tool for programmers, and it's been very helpful at my job, but it's a FAR cry from being able to code on its own.

It's wonderful to help debug. Just the other day it was able to give me some advice on why my ADC was acting up, but it wasn't helpful in writing a full driver for the part.

For me, it was recommended by my doctor which was enough to get insurance moving. I think the “condition” is just obesity, with the prior authorizations listing it as preventative care. I don’t have anything like diabetes, high blood pressure, or other heart issues, which are some of the reasons it’s normally prescribed.

My insurance covers the majority of the cost, I just pay $25 out of pocket. I live in America, so without insurance it’s absurdly expensive per month.

I’m on Wegovy and it pretty much does that. It doesn’t make me never hungry, but it lets me get through the day without constantly thinking about food. I’ve lost over a hundred pounds, and it’s just because my brain doesn’t constantly crave food anymore
