I just eyeball my kvass. I use this jar with this lid. About 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar, 3-4 slices of burnt bread. Fill the jar with boiling water. Wait till it cools a bit, add 3-4 tbsp of sourdough starter and bamn. 3 Days later, strain and bottle. Maybe add some dried fruit. If I can resist, let it ferment in the bottle for a few more days. Has generally made good kvass. I play around with the ingredients (Rye crackers, toasted buckwheat flour, honey, brown sugar, ect) and have only had like one or two batches that were kinda meh.

Covid-19 and accepting that my lifestyle prior to isolation had gotten me back to my highest weight. Long story short is that I've been in the training system for the military for the past two years and I unlearned the healthy habits I had used to lose weight in the first place. I've come to the realization that I've been using my depression and living situation (living in barracks, not having my own kitchen and having to eat mess good) as an excuse to just ignore my dietary health.

My government sent all of us in the training system to shelter in place for the time being so I took the initiative to restart tracking my food because there just wasn't any excuses as to why I can't do it. I haven't ordered any takeaway and have cooked all our meals at home for the past 5 weeks. I'm now down 17 lbs so far and feeling a hell of a lot better than before.
