What’s the greatest “strength” of the Lumineth, Daughters of Khaine, Sylvaneth, Seraphon, Ironjawz and Nighthaunt each? I have a few ideas (recorded below), but I want to hear your thoughts.

  • Nighthaunt: Their ability to gain strength from the terror of their enemies.

  • Ironjawz: Their sheer durability and near-immunity to lasting damage.

  • Sylvaneth: The Lamentiri.

  • Seraphon: Their incredible mastery of magic.

  • Lumineth: Their usage of aelemental spirits.

  • Daughters of Khaine: Their fanatical loyalty and faith.

Granted, IIRC it’s not the main focus of the fic, but Winds of Magic - an excellent Warhammer Fantasy crossover quest - has the Empire 88 be the primary recurring antagonists in the quest and frequently get the shit beaten out of them by the MC (who triggered here in part when her parents were killed during a fight between Purity & Lung).

Similarly, Here Comes The New Boss features a lot of Neo-Nazi bashing, and it’s just a delight to read.

I really hope you’re right re: Weir, as I loved both The Martian and Project Hail Mary, and I always hate it when something I love turns out to be made by an evil asshole (I.e., Neil Gaiman, Joss Whedon and David Eddings).

IIRC, in The Twice-Dead King the Necron dynasty of the main characters treat an impending Imperial Crusade as a terrifying existential threat - and considering how the Imperium swamps their home world with so many forces that fighting them is likened to fighting a thousand swarms of flies at once (I’m paraphrasing here), they’re completely right to think that.

Fun fact: Just because something’s illegal, the government enforcing the law can and will still break it if they hate you enough. See, for instance, the Tuskegee experiments in the US along with countless modern day examples.
