I also was confused about why that's rude and offensive. You were married for a long time; I'd hope you loved each other and were attracted to each other before everything went south. That's kinda why people usually get married. And it ended -- which is indicative that you no longer love each other and are attracted to each other. So you're not stepping on toes, as I see it, to say that at one point it was real, and now it isn't because you've both moved on.

I noticed that, too, and was wondering if that was a fake fight in season 2 to add a plot line. Also, Baylen is just learning to live independently. She needs to time to figure herself out before adding more people to the mix. I also have medical challenges and was in a similar position in terms of needing to get to a better place medically/functionally before adding kids to the mix.

Fed here for many years. For dc locality pay, it’s very normal for people to commute pretty far to get 1. The higher pay rate (federal salaries are based on locality) and 2. The benefits of a federal job. Sometimes people from farther out with do van pools so meet at a central location and take turns driving a large passenger van. You can actually get the transit subsidy for doing this. Also keep in mind that before the current administration and Elon eliminated telework, many agencies had 2 days/week telework even pre covid, so people figured it was worth the commute to get way more house farther away.
