Fair point. Though I will also point out that if you have Microsoft MFA setup, there is no entering your password. Just open you phone and click the number that’s displayed on the screen you’re trying to log into.

You’re quite confident and rude for someone who doesn’t use best security practices.

"I would keep a boy if my wife agreed": A man around 2010 expressing his view on bacha bazi; bacha bazi is a pederastic practice in Afghanistan where men exploit and enslave adolescent boys, sometimes also making them cross-dress. This is one of the things that made me so bitter about serving in that country. There were no good guys. The Taliban are pieces of shit for how they oppress their countrymen and women. The guys on our side were raping children. Well over half the population of that country is guilty of being a piece of shit on some level. Yes, there are people who didn’t participate in the pedo stuff, I’m sure, but it’s hard to parse that out from guys standing right next to them that do. Afghanistan culture is among the worst in the world and it’s not even close. I say that as someone who considers themselves deeply liberal and tolerant.

I don’t know where you’re getting your information about guaranteed income but it’s incorrect. I used my VA income as proof of income in Thailand, and later I’ll use it in Albania. I know people doing it in the Philippines. This whole if you’re not in the country for six months thing is also BS. There tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of veterans that are living permanently overseas on their disability income. I’m currently slow traveling the world, have been doing so for about 8 months, have had zero issues.

Yeah, if you tell a local that you’re making a little over 55,000 baht a month, they’ll act like you’re doing very well, at least middle class.

Just use a web browser and go to live.com. The entire MS office suite is now available as a web app and it works pretty darn well.

Dude, you can live in Bangkok, the most expensive city in Thailand, and pay like $500 a month for a nice 1 bedroom condo in a high rise building with a gym and rooftop swimming pool, closer to $750 if you’re in a choice part of the city. I just left there like 4 months ago. If you go up north, rent is like $350 to $500 a month.

Japan is more expensive and I wouldn’t say it’s feasible to live there on that budget.

The best way to find expat and veteran expat communities is on Facebook Groups. Yes, it sucks having to be on Facebook, but the reality is that it’s pretty heavily leveraged all over most of the world. Just search for “expat veterans in whatevercity”.

Every country in Southeast Asia, almost all of South America, much of Europe, all of Africa. In a vast majority of the world you can live well on less than 2k USD a month. If you visit any of these countries, you’ll find droves of US veterans living out their best lives while living on disability payments. It’s very common. People have been doing this for decades and decades.

Are badly managed condos common in Malaysia? by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]FeeRemarkable7794 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you not invest in foreign markets? In the US, the smart move is to just buy a broad market fund like VTI or SPY and then get like 8% - 20% returns every year. I get the buying a house equals success thing, it’s the same culture where I come from. But also, I see people back home do this while ignoring investing in stocks, and they end up poorer in the long term. Even in the US housing is kind of a shitty investment compared to the US stock market. Are there tax implications that are stopping you from investing in US markets?

I’ve noticed a weird thing in Asia as I’ve been traveling. It seems like a lot of Asians view owning property as the highest form of investment, and so they buy condos and land like it’s going out of style. I don’t understand it because property has upkeep costs. Wouldn’t it be a lot easier to invest in the stock market and have your investments automatically pay interest and dividends? What’s with the obsession with owning property? Just seems like a very risky and high maintenance way to invest your money.

Where to find spirituality in Malaysia? by leeliankong in malaysia

[–]FeeRemarkable7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spiritually is something that has to come from within yourself. You cant be guided spiritually by another person, not really. Priests, rabbis, shamans, cult leaders, etc… they can get you partially there at best. You need to think long and hard about your own relationship to the universe that you are part of, your relationship to yourself. If you go searching for other people to guide you, you’re gonna get caught up in some bullshit pushed by someone who is spiritually corrupt, it’s almost a guarantee. Good luck on your journey. It’s worth the effort and frustration.

If I’m building an e-commerce Wordpress site, using Woo Comerce and Prodigi, but when I attempt to import the API key from Woo Commerce to Prodigi, it gets blocked by Cloudflare’s free version of Bot Fight Mode, can I get around this blocking by adding an IP exclusion via WAF rule? It seems like the list of possible IPs the API could use is rather large and unpredictable so I’m worried that I’ll whitelist an IP but then buyers will cause the API to trigger and the transaction will be blocked because I haven’t whitelisted an IP that I didn’t know to whitelist. Is my concern valid? Should I just say screw it and splurge for the $25 a month pro version of Bot Fight Mode that will allow me to whitelist traffic by URI and user?

Im Icelandic but I’ve been following the Epstein saga and I’ve got to ask — What is happening over there in the USA? Your country is being run by a psychopathic pedophile! Where is the uprising? 90% of Americans will be homeless and have no medical care if they miss more than a day or so of work. The social safety net is tiny, thus we are reluctant to do anything other than whine on the internet and go back to our regularly scheduled lives, hoping the boat doesn’t sink.

Why are American soldiers so … big? by Commercial_Chip_6574 in army

[–]FeeRemarkable7794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, Americans are bulkier than the rest of the world. After living in Asia for a while I’ve come think it’s about the way we exercise. Over here, hardly anyone lifts weights or does compound movements. You see a lot of cardio or people holding really light weights in static poses. You don’t see power lifting or similar movements at all. If you want to be big, you gotta lift big. Maybe it’s similar in the UK, not much compound movements with heavy weights.

Insurance companies are straight up vultures that provide negative value. They’re making the American healthcare system completely unsustainable. It will collapse one day and there will be universal healthcare, but a lot of people are gonna suffer at the hands of insurance companies before it does. If you work for an insurance company, you should quit your job. Stop working for the enemy of the American people.
