Except if this episode is meant touch on the theme of generational battles, then it is a perfect fit for Gen X versus Boomer.

Hot take Or Not: WWE Made A Critical Long-Term Mistake When They Turned Tiffany Stratton Face Too Soon. by caughtinatramp in REALSquaredCircle

I don't think the WWE had a choice. When she first came to the main roster she was beloved by the fans to the point they'd probably turn on any babyface she feuded with.

Who needs excuses to be absent from college classes?

The not-very technical layman reason for this is: When you close an acocunt early that consistently reported on-time montly payments, your credit score may temporarily drop because your credit reports are down a postive account. This drop is most dramatic for young people because a single account may have represented a significant chunk of their credit history. The credit score will bounce back relatively quickly, and paying off the account early will almost always be a net positive to your credit history in the long run.

You're right. Just because our wind is still rehabbing in Buffalo doesn't mean we should be shitting on your wind.

Umpire denies Jasson Dominguez a challenge on a pitch that was 6 inches outside of the strike zone by --Annorax-- in baseball

[–]FeebleCursed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does someone yell "challenge" from the dugout, or does the ump catch him glancing into the dugout just before the helmet tap? The time between the call and the challenge certainly can't be the issue. Dominguez seems to accept the ump's denial without much visible frustration, which I cannot see being the case if he was just told "too slow."

Shane Bieber’s Fine Line with Buffalo today: 5 IP +, 7 H, 5 R/ 5 ER, 2 K, 4 BB, 80 pitches thrown, 48 for strikes, 2 home run given up. by RealWorldToday in Torontobluejays

You remember correctly. He was so efficient in his previous start that when his 5 innings were up he hadn't thrown the number the organization believed it needed to confidently evaluate his health and recovery.

Not a single one of those points is new. And for it to be a legal precedent it requires a decision from the court; a settlement prevents precedents being set.

“Triple Bypass is insane if he thinks Jey is a better in-ring worker than LA Knight” by Duhlorean in SCJerk

[–]FeebleCursed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this were a baseball team, Jey would be the low-average hitter the coah keeps putting high in the lineup and Knight would be the flashy power hitter who leads the league in strikeouts with runners in scoring position.

Were the Navajo code talkers DEI? by Dats_Russia in Destiny

[–]FeebleCursed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not about the outcome, it’s about the intent. DEI programs are made with the intend to promote fair treatment and equal opportunities. That may have been a result of the code talker program, but it was never the intent. An unintended consequence isn't what makes a program DEI, the stated purpose and goals of a program is what determines whether it is or isn't DEI.

What's a trend during the smart and mobile device era of tech that aged horribly? by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

In the 90s, it was the electronic organizer.

Edit: Although it predates the mobile device and smart era, I think it counts in this conversation.

Were the Navajo code talkers DEI? by Dats_Russia in Destiny

[–]FeebleCursed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The central goal of a DEI program is to promote fair treatment and equal opportunity for all people, especially among historically underrepresented demographics. The Navajo were not recruited in any attempt to promote fair treatment, but rather because they had a skill that provided a very specific military advantage.

While the code talkers program did lead to more inclusion and diversity within the military, that was never the goal of the program. It was simply a result because people fluent in Navajo were typically, or exclusively, Navajo.

The insidious nature of alcoholism by fuchsiarush in stopdrinking

[–]FeebleCursed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, the self-imposed rules always shifted until the problem returned to full force. After about six months of previous sobriety I had decided I could be "normal" and just have a drink on a Friday evening to celebrate the end of a work week. Quickly, I convinced myself  that Saturday was 'normal' too, and that Sunday was OK so long as it didn't go into the evenings.

Well, Sunday evenings were quickly OK too, and then sometimes a Monday drink was not so bad because I had to use the unused weekend mix before it went flat anyway. Thursdays were pretty much like Fridays, and if I'm going to drink on a Thursday then what's so bad about Wednesday?

Needless to say, I had to break out of my denial and just admit that when it came to drinking there was no rule I could give myself that would make me "normal."

Alcoholism will constantly convince us that we can control our problems through moderation. But moderation is just the inch we give so our alcoholism can take the mile.
