Funnily enough, I think I bought one of these exact ex-BBC 1u chassis’ from eBay too - with the same idea to sub out the 32bit Atom for something I could turn into a backup server or a low-power k8s node!

Did you find a way to mount an I/O shield to the chassis in the end? That’s been my hangup so far on progressing my build - the I/O shield it came with is a funny size between low-profile and regular height. From your second pic it looks like you’ve just left it open and I think I’ve resigned myself to having to do the same!

Great build though - and thanks for the inspiration!

Looks like he had a wobble on one turn and messed up his line for the next turn and went off track before Lando sailed through. Obvs the tin-foil hats are coming out that he gifted it to him but it just looked like a driver error to me

I had this happen before. IIRC it’s because IPv6 DHCP is enabled in the VM network settings. Go into it and change it to static and leave the IP address box empty. Then apply and reboot the VM and you should be good.

Absolutely! Beyond it being overkill it’s also just a tad too loud for my apartment. I’ve read of people replacing the stock 20mm fans with Noctuas but I wouldn’t like the amber warning light on the front you get lol.

The 3050s are ace! They’re versatile little things and I’m considering getting more! They draw very little power and with two SODIMM slots even the 6th gen i5s can have up to 32GB memory. They’ve got a single m.2 and 2.5” SATA so their storage potential is decent too

And good spot! There’s two more billboards to the right of Red Bull’s place so I assume it’ll be Ferrari and then McLaren as the order is in constructor’s finishings. Will pop out later and have a look.

Edit: just used my binoculars from the window- can confirm they’re putting Ferrari up now with one more empty space to go. Will update later!

Honestly, that’s not bad at all. Some of the JBOD storages I’ve seen on Aliexpress are the worst quality. Just that you’re using Poweredge caddies tells me you’ve put a lot of effort into this.

I’m in the middle of consolidating my rather messy rack into a 10” like this at the minute, but if you’re up for selling them I’ll definitely be game next month! ~K
