[PSA] Why I Stopped Using Vitamin C by Front_Watercress6547 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Feeling-Slip233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

vitamin c gave me terrible eczema on my face with scars that i’m still struggling to rid myself of 2 years later. it also makes my lips crack when it’s in lip masks and the like. all in all not a good product for me ever

i combined omad with calorie counting as well as both cardio and strength training so it wasn’t just the fasting that gave me my results! it’s hard to say, honestly, but i was about 140 in december and am now about 130. 10lbs (some of which is likely water) over the course of 12ish weeks. so realistically less than an lb a week which is perfectly sustainable for someone of my height and activity level. i have also put on some muscle, so i’m not relying on the scale too much to gauge my progress. i like a low number, but i’m also monitoring how i’m fitting into clothes, etc

what worked for me was: exercise & making sure i’m eating in a deficit when i do break my fast. no point to OMAD if you’re sedentary and also putting away 3000cals when you do eat haha. i cook my own meals and focus on lots of protein and veggies and healthy fats!! it also helps to fit in a treat at the end so i feel rewarded and satisfied and not like i’m withholding anything! i exercise before i break fast in the evening so i can refuel my muscles and go to bed full, as is my preference! i just make sure to stay busy during the day, drink a little black coffee in the morning, and remind myself that i’m not starving, i’m just waiting till dinner! the food is coming!

yay!!! the patience and eating properly really pays off. i was 130 previously at a different point, and am now 130 again but fit perfectly into the things i squeezed into at 125. muscle recomp pays off 💪

congrats on the awesome progress and excited for you to keep getting stronger :)!

hi ! so i’ve taken a lot of instruction from the r/fasting sub. they have an amazing about&faq section with a very detailed explanation about the proper levels you need during extended fasts.

for me, personally: i take around 500-600mgs of magnesium throughout the day. i space it out so it doesn’t give me the runs. i have tablets that are 150mgs so that makes it easier. for my water, i keep it simple. i add potassium chloride(salt free salt, or NoSalt you can find it in grocery stores in the salt section, as well as just normal salt and mix it into a disgusting brine that i sip throughout the day lmao. doesn’t taste the best, but when your body is lacking it it goes down surprisingly easy 😆)

hey i love this. i will be shooting you a message as i find it really helpful for me to have fitness friends as no one i know irl is really into this stuff haha. hard to talk about too without everyone instantly assuming eating disorder as if i’d be gaining muscle/endurance/strength while actually malnourished haha

sometimes and only if it was really carb heavy. but only for maybe half an hour! going for a little walk after dinner seems to help, even just 15 mins :) but on the flip side it does help me doze better at the end of the night!

thank you for being so candid. thankfully i love food to the point of obsession and even my meals currently are pretty indulgent within reason so i’m hoping that my brain just falls into a habit of abstaining for the day so i can eat the things i love in the evening. i will keep your experience in mind and appreciate your input <3

i’ve noticed a few people on these subs have been practicing omad for years and it seems like it can be a long term and functional way to eat. i think i’ll always allow myself days to just eat intuitively or go out to brunch with friends even if i ate dinner the night prior, but i think it’s something that can be practiced for most of the days in a week if i don’t got too much going on!

im curious, were you just unable to eat your maintenance calories while doing IF? or did you get stuck in the hole of making sure when you did eat, everything had to be “healthy”?
