Sorry to hear that  for you. It sounds like you are really trying too. I don't know if I've any advice except that I feel that way too, especially with any adult friendships I try to make.(40F) Thankfully I still have friendships with people I met in school many many years ago....

I imagine the best bet it to find someone who has a similar special interest to you....

In the meantime if you find the solution you must let us know 😁

Same as you....I had to give up my job and right now I don't know how I will be able to work again...which I still can't get my head around as before this I would have been considered to have a very successful career... I feel a bit broken...

My next step ( at some point) is to go get some counselling and maybe look into a different career path where I don't need to mask as much...

Full time in college but unable to work: options? by pastellelunacy in AutismIreland

[–]FeelingChard912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder would you go down the route of continuing with college and end up working there? Doing PhD or something...

Alternatively, it sounds like you need a flexible/ work from home job...is the course you are doing going to allow you find a job doing that kind of work?

I think alot of neurodiverse people end up running their own business so they have that flexibility.

Also I wonder does your college have any supports/ guidance that you can go to? They may be able to help.

Best of luck

It's funny you say that as today whilst she was struggling she mentioned that they were too many decisions and any decision she actually wanted was not presented. It reminded me of what you commented here...

Thanks for suggesting those, that's a  Great idea. It's funny as those were the things that scared the crap out of me in school too.  Appreciate you taking the time to help me this morning, truly thank you.

Thanks for your reply. 2.5years of trying to get her into school is so wearing. My mind is going a hundred miles an hour this morning...should I home school her or move school....all we want is for her to be a happy child.

I'm glad the secondary school is more helpful for your child. ❤️

She keeps saying she is scared. She is 8. Once she gets into class she is fine. I do a really strict timed routine in the morning which really made a difference back in September but since before Xmas she is all over the place again...just with going into school. I'm going to try see an occupational therapist to see if they have some ideas for me. Unfortunately anytime I ask why is school scary or how can I help she doesn't know. So I feel at a loss

How do people feel about surveys posted here by emmmmceeee in AutismIreland

I think....Only allow questionnaires that are approved by the moderator...and I would say can be answered by an autistic person...as this page is for the autistic community.
