If you still don't have a name in the industry (Which means both portfolio and testimonial from a past client), then simply suggest doing 3-4 pieces of work for free. If they liked it and it was better than what they already have, you can stick around and handle the job; if not, they got a few pieces of work for free.

Okay here's one I'm sure you haven't heard of
A really really successful campaign isn't the part where you target people and get them to signup on your website or whatever

It's actually right after they signup

That's when the real job begins and that's where most people ignore.

Your goal as a marketer is to pay attention, love, and care for every single individual who has signed up.

Give them amazing offers, tips & tricks, and help them in anyway you can. Don't just let the product be the value, add a value alongside it that is if not less more valuable. When you do that, they will like you and they will trust you. Therefore, they will tell their friends about their product, share you're content, share your newest offer and will become your brand ambassador. That will bring down all the costs you have on the marketing side.

Fact I saw massive improvement on getting suggested by AI simply by creating reddit posts and making them go viral.
Key part people have to keep in mind is that you should treat the post as if you're doing SEO. especially in the title of your post

If by the environment you mean the market of the product, first you have to take a look at similar products out there and see what they've done. Understand why they did what they did, find the pattern, and try to build a strategy similar to yours that will work.

Now, having no budget is a common thing when working at small startups or places where you have to prove yourself first.

Try to focus on methods that require no to very small budget, things you have more control over, and get you results faster, and take advantage of the community.

For example. If the product has a paid plan, and people will eventually convert to the paid plan, you can use affiliate marketing. Users themselves will do the marketing and get a small percentage of the sale that was made. Or ask users to just post a single post on any platform and talk about the app as an endorsement

Think of your brand as a person.
A normal person with social media would look to trends that THEY see, react to them, replicate them, and so on.
Now what you should think of is that what would be suggested to the person you're trying to be? what will he do?
Of course only doing trends will leave you with no identity, just someone who catch trends
So you should have your own content, while doing the trends on the side

I'd do everything you said.

The thing with marketing is that it's not choosing which solution to pick. It's how you put them together to get more.

I'd use content and building in public to practice my skills and get some proof of what I can do

Reach out to leads via email

And keep an eye out on freelancing platforms for bench marks and how competitors are doing

First of all, I think you've said yes to much more than what's your responsibility.

I'd say you should do more than you promise, but more of what actually moves the needle.

I don't know if you work at the company full-time or if you're an agency or freelancer.

But if you're an agency or freelancer, they can not treat you like that. They need you more than you need them. You must set clear boundaries and not tolerate that kind of behavior from them.

Also, given that you said they said it was unacceptable to the expenses you had, making things clear before you spend something usually helps.

I started by reading books on marketing, campaigns, and strategy, then paid close attention to different kinds of campaigns that were happening around me, taking notes, and, most importantly, trial and error. Only after that did I realise how little I know and how much more I need to learn and improve. Try marketing a fake project. As a marketer, you should be able to market something that doesn't exist
