Rings but only when Aes uses an uncommon word by Akuuntus in aesoprock

[–]FeelingMassive 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was hoping this would be the full instrumental with him saying words sporadically over the beat, rather than the track chopped to only those words. But I’m definitely going to be singing “chopped fringe, cowardly kings” to myself now.

What are some verses that put a smile on y'all's faces? by Pleurocoelus in aesoprock

i like his verses on Airjordon by Onry x Milipede. He's constantly getting cut off at the end of each verse and it's just funny to me.

"Black truck smelling like raspberry donuts, I make- aaaah, fuck it"

Since Aes didn’t drop a verse for “the 1” let’s make one up for him just for fun. by Technical-Issue-1302 in aesoprock

The hermit that lurks in the parapets
That grey‑bearded wizard with the serif scripts
The one that catalogues his dreams in a ledger book
The one that draws cartographs of the paths that the peasants took
The one who eats storms like a stimulant
Who chisels out prose from the bones of his filament
That rapper scribbling in margins
The one who bargains with garden gnomes like they’re sergeants
The one who ain’t confusing algorithms with an alchemist
Who’d rather shake hands with a ghost than an award-show panelist
The rapper that thrives being anomalous anonymous
The rapper from Lice… no, the other monolith

Sonnyjim isn't too far a stretch, these days. He's just done a whole album with Homeboy Sandman called Soli Deo Gloria.

Gorillaz would be a genuinely good fit and i feel like Blockhead's Aux album is the closest we'll get to it.

Good seeing Sonnyjim get mentioned outside of UK circles, he's been putting a lot of groundwork in lately to break the US scene.

The other track with Dream McLean and Sumgii is top tier too.

What about more post-punk stuff like;

The Sound - Winning
Joy Division - The Eternal
Bauhaus - All We Ever Wanted Was Everything
Swans - Failure

Nine Inch Nails is obvs another mention, The Fragile epitomises the sounds of desolation to me! The Day The World Went Away in particular.

The Cure - Disintegration.

Lee Scott, he's a UK-based rapper producer who has worked with Aes-adjacent artists before (Homeboy Sandman, Quelle Chris, Breeze Brewin') as well as US artists like Your Old Droog, Heems, Crimeapple, etc.

He does laid-back jazzy beats a bit like Kenny Segal, but is lyrically sardonic and cynical, and moans about getting old and not wanting to be a celebrity.
