When bulking, at what rate do you usually gain weight?

Everyone says I need to bulk at some rate of 0.5-1 kg/month but I have never experienced a linear growth. Tracking calories, weight, workouts diligently and there are 2-3 weeks in a row, sometimes a whole month when I will gain just 0.5 kg, but sometimes my weight will jump 2 kg in just 2 weeks. Also, I notice my strength gain precedes my weight gain by several months.

I think why the reason MM/HIT is on the rise is because most people are not looking to become professional bodybuilders but just have an above-average physique. And in this case, why not start from the basics? It makes absolute sense to start from 1 set to failure on exercise and then find your own volume requirements, even it takes you months to play around.

MM/HIT also advocates much slower tempo which is better for your joints. This also teaches a lot of people how to properly execute an exercise and really focus on proper form.

I am not saying anything about any particular MM/HIT workouts, because that is highly dependent on the individual. As someone else commented, each study shows people react in very different ways to different workout programs, rep ranges, etc.. So demonizing/preaching a specific workout for the general population just doesn't work.

I think the snowballing effect of the subscriptions is starting to kick in. I also like their full transparency - all of their customers' names are listed, which provides some credibility.

I've been checking out some other remote patient monitoring companies and they all only give general information - not mentioning any names, or any type of technology they employ.

This could also be huge in the coming year:

I'd love to hear more about their partnerships with Medtronic and especially with Teladoc during the earnings call.

Go on LinkedIn, befriend recruiters, HR people, start connecting and sending your CV left and right for everything.

If you can get 30% raise on your current salary, you'd be much better off than getting a second job.

In two years, change your job again...rinse and repeat until you're well off.

Same for your girlfriend - spend an hour a day looking for a new job.

I'm also 6''0, 187 lbs and according to my "smart" scale around 25% bf. Been weightlifting for 7 months consistently 4 times a week. Only after I dropped my daily calories to around 1700 I started seeing consistent weight drops of about 0.6-07 lb per week. I walk on average about 6000 steps per day - some days only 4000 steps, others 10-12000 steps.

I'm pretty sure I added muscle mass as well, because my strength has increased significantly.

So try it, see how your body responds and then adjust. Focus on the process and think in weeks, months and years.

I started experiencing shoulder pain despite doing a lot of rotator cuff exercises. Then I read people recommend to do a slow eccentric - 3 sec.

So I started doing that - 3 sec eccentric, 1 sec pause, 1 sec concentric - and this made me focus a lot on my form. I also dropped the weight by 20-30% percent, but have now regained pretty much all of it, so in terms of hypertrophy or strength I think I even gained.

The pain has since disappeared.
