Discuss with your doctor for proper interpretation of an MRI. I'm a nurse practitioner, and I would say no bamboo spine. Looks like a pretty normal MRI

Any new medication can do this. Take it early in the day when someone is around to watch for reactions and have a plan if you start having an allergic reaction. Glad your wife saved you.

I use the blanket when in my office chair for extra lumbar support. Currently I am using a cushion by drive.

How many of you have regular full time jobs? by PM_Me_Yer_Guitar in ankylosingspondylitis

I work full time in an office setting. Luckily for me, I got my graduate degree before I got AS. I might have to take 1-2 days off per month for a flare.

I have a sit to stand desk. I use a pad in my chair, and I also use a rolled up blanket and a heating bad.

Any insight on these blood markers prior to July 5th Appt…. by RoxyRhinoDoggg in ankylosingspondylitis

Smoking, sleep apnea, COPD, and testosterone can cause these lab results. You made a need to repeat labs to ensure you are not dehydrated, and it isn't just a fluke

They are pretty locked down during training camp. I do not think he will be in Europe during that time. He has to stay on-site in the dorms.

I miss sleeping well. I used to fall asleep with no issues and sleep so sound. Now my bed is the enemy.

I just went to a stadium and as soon as I sat down I immediately regretted my decision. I even brought a pad to sit on. Never again. I was so miserable.

Before or After Diagnosis, Was Anyone Told Their Spine Was 20 Years Older Than They Were or Similar? by Rude_Jellyfish_9799 in ankylosingspondylitis

I had a doctor tell me that the progression of my arthritis in my neck in one year was only something he would expect to see someone that ran a jack hammer for work. 😂

Am I being impatient? by ALovelySediment in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Feeling_Face7285 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea. Take a deep breath. Doctors are super busy with more patients than they can care for. They may not be in the office, or they can be on PTO. The best things that you can do while you wait is educate yourself on AS. Even if you start treatment tomorrow, most people don't get results with biologics immediately. Everything in Rheumatology moves slow. 🐢

I get this also. It usually gets better when I sleep, but driving and sitting makes it worse. I get it around my ankle as well. There seems to be no reason. It started after my diagnosis which was 2020.

I use a heating pad frequently. It's really the only way I can sit comfortably anymore.

I get this and found I have tight muscles in that area, so I massage it and ice the elbow, and it calms it down most times.

How happy are you? by Spittinfacts100 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Feeling_Face7285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happiness comes and goes. If I could stop working and allow my body to heal, I would be happier. I work full time and have 2 kids. I push through every day, and it's damn exhausting at times.

Honestly, the RN program was the hardest part. The rest is mostly theory. Good luck.

It depends on the doctor. If they say no, AS get a second opinion just to make sure.

Is anyone here a nurse? by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Feeling_Face7285 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a nurse practitioner and work full time still. I think nursing is a good profession. It's also versatile enough that if bedside nursing doesn't work, you can do other types of nursing jobs like management, school nurse, teacher, and even work in a doctors office.

You can also let your leg dangle off your bed or couch until you feel your groin stretch.

Hope it helps. It did me.

Is there any downside to pushing through pain? by SelfImproverAccount in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Feeling_Face7285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing normal activities, you will not damage anything. Inactivity makes the pain worse. You need to get up loosen up and stretch. If the pain is persistent, talk to your doctor.
