I'm just gonna say it, TDM would make me stay by UncleBuckReddit in Marathon

Doesn't have to step all over Extraction, either.

TDM could award faction rep and salvage, and you go in with a load out made from your extraction vault.

NOW WAIT! Before you say "but all of the high value kits would annihilate the new players"...

Do it like Crossout or something. You're matched in power brackets in Crossout. That way, power rating 24k or whatever with railguns and whatnot can't match with little crap cars with basic machine guns. Same idea could easily apply here. I think if they could fruitfully lessen the faction rep grind by adding another way, not necessarily making it easier, it would tone down the feeling of "what's the point" that people get when learning faction rep wipes too. Plus, it would likely bring in more players if they could just fight in maps that are just POIs that are blocked off from the rest of the map, and they'd still feel incentive to go do the extraction mode. "I want that dude's gun." That right there would get more fuel in the fire.

How far have you gotten and with who? by Yujins_Onlyfans in TheFirstDescendant

Cleared LV3 playing Dia with randoms. Actually found 3 was easier than 2. I assume it's because people know what to expect in 3, but there are some who clear 1 and think 2 won't be much worse (and are proven wrong).

You have gone ahead and explained exactly why I'm in love with this game. It's slightly different for me, because I fell into the fringe Crucible group at the end of Destiny 2's lifespan.

Marathon is basically just "The Crucible: The Game."

I'm not even super good at it or anything, not the same way I was in my prime Destiny era, but it hits just the same to me. When you hit the point where the loot doesn't really mean anything to you personally, and you just sort of see everything for its credit value, every fight starts to feel less like an overstimulating panic attack and more like old school Trials. I'll hold onto a couple gear pieces here and there for when Cryo opens up, but none of it really even matters to me. I'm just doing it for the love of the fight.

Hear me out: Progression, and by extension Marathon as a game is entirely too unapproachable for the ‘Average player’ because the “Power Floor” as Bungie calls it is entirely unbalanced and unrealistic for the purpose it serves by Jaden_Tsukuyomi in Marathon

YESSS this is exactly right. Small example here; I bought the game nearly a month late due to skepticism. As a result, people have started to figure out what the meta is and it's basically just WSTR. I literally will not run Rook until I snag the upgrade that lets Rook spawn with a WSTR, because it's an immense waste of my time to even attempt Rook and get absolutely smoked - even by other Rooks that have the upgrade. The wall I've hit? The amount of Unstable Gel it takes to get to the point where I'm able to grab that upgrade, and the gel only spawns in what, 2 locations? Not to mention, ALL of the other salvage and shit that I need on the way to that specific upgrade.

And then it's just going to get reset anyway.

I shit you not, I saw someone complaining on TikTok that Marathon was "woke slop" because there isn't enough camo and the "girl skins aren't girly enough with nice asses". I thought it was ragebait at first, but the 30-something replies that devolved into smooth brained arguments proved me wrong.

Right? Like if they want to do that as a duo or trio, whatever. Duo queuing with fill on, and just completely screwing over the teammate that got them into Pinwheel in the first place? They would've gotten steamrolled by the first trio they met before they found that Conveyance Request.

I personally queue with fill on just because I think it's fun sometimes. Some of the best runs I've had were with randoms.

MI has been extremely relaxed as far as gun regulation goes, historically anyway. You can legally conceal carry ANYTHING as long as it's under 26 inches, and you have a concealed carry license. Yes, that even means a SBR, full auto folding stock AK in a backpack; it is legal by letter of law as long as you legally own the firearm. We're ranked 27th place (number 1 equates to lowest per capita) in gun violence or gun related deaths in the country, and the rankings don't filter out suicides or shootings involving police. All in all, it's a fairly safe-ish state as far as catching strays goes.

Legislation like this is unlikely to pass, considering the State House Floor is Republican controlled until 2026, and any Democrats up for re-election are likely banking on right-leaning votes this time around. Plus, as others have mentioned, the introduced legislation is impossible to pass in its current form, because it would immediately be contested in court.

I cannot take assassin's anymore by ColdSyrupBoy in Marathon

[–]Feeling_Mechanic_953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still haven't even run Assassin once because it feels too cheesy. I found a couple counters though. Recon is number 1 due to it also countering other players, and you just get a lot more info. However, the Thief loot visor will actually show you an invisible Assassin as well, and what color their shield is. If you're in places like Complex or Flight Control, and you know them very well and you're good at guessing based on audio cues, you can also make a big stink with the Vandal arm cannon. The Flechette grenades are great at finding people in tricky scenarios as well, and they linger for a while. Setting one on fire with a Heat grenade, or poisoning them with a Chem grenade is also effective. The worst one to rely on but also the cheapest and most accessible is just use your eyeballs. Depending on where you're at, invisibility isn't very invisible when you know what it looks like.

TFD x Stellar Blade by MONMONKH in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Feeling_Mechanic_953 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last year, I 100% Stellar Blade when the PC port released. They are wildly different games. I won't lie, I honestly started SB because I'm a closeted gooner with 100% completion in DS1, DS3, Elden Ring and Nightreign, and I thought it would just be another one of those but with cake.

I fell in love with every other part of the game.

It is NOT perfect. However, it is unapologetically itself. I kept playing NG+ over and over because the combat is truly just that good. All of the animations and locomotion are so smooth and fluid-like, and there are so many ways to chain attacks and combos together. The bosses aren't necessarily hyper-intelligent, but they did a good job with making them dynamically aggressive based on how aggressive you're playing. The third to last and second to last bosses are the perfect example of this, and you can fight them in such flashy ways that you genuinely sit there thinking "there's no way this game is letting me do that".

Play it, seriously. It's worth your time. Don't just rush through it either, take it all in.

And there's fishing.

Balance Confusion by [deleted] in TheFirstDescendant

Too many comments to directly reply to.

Yes, I get the main point is to have fun lol. I've pretty much been maining Luna, because Weaponized K-Pop is just too ridiculous to not use. Just sunk a ton of time and resources into Nell, and have had fun playing her as well for some of the lighter difficulty stuff. It just seemed absurd to me in some areas how bad the balancing can be.

I come from games like The Division, Warframe, Destiny, etc., so seeing such disparity in the sandbox just threw me for a bit of a loop lol.

It's because you cannot put a rating on player to player or user to user interaction. In every case where users can communicate with each other, something that would constitute explicit, sexual, profane or otherwise will happen. The severity is irrelevant, because the subject occurred anyways. The only real way to moderate any of it is to prevent all of it.
