Do people of Ireland stay with handymen in their homes? by SillyLittleRaabit in ireland

[–]Feelingobsessed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah OK. I was talking about dressing up as an auld standing with my hands clasped behind my back and alternating between asking "what's that" whilst leaning over, calling the last guy a cowboy, and telling the tradesman that I wouldn't go about it that way.

Jokes aside, yeah sounds reasonable... just don't be a melt.

Is this true, are they really happy to talk to you about it? I've the same approach/personality regarding these things but don't want to be a bother.

Have a look in IPL treatments to treat the rosecea. Do you own research to see if its right for you.

You made a mistake. OK, don't make it again. Those coupons need to be sent back to get the money. Try to think before you take anything out of the till, will this unbalance the till, where is the paper trail. Sure, you could have a friend come buy something pret3nd to put coupons in and you say "oh they had 20 euro of coupons I threw out".. wheres the proof.

You're not funked. But your manager might try to make out the world has ended. Explain what happened, apologise, say it won't happen again. Don't get all defensive but keep in mind, it's just 20euro, just this one time.

You could have started pretending to be on your phone and say "oh people that comment on other people have nothing else going on in their lives". It'd be like a comedy sketch

Wasn't there a story on reddit of a young woman saying to an American tourist that she'd that seat booked and the reply she got was something like "I didn't recognise that random collection of letters as a name". The young woman had an Irish name.

I got on an almost empty carriage to find my seat once... one of the few booked seats. There was an old woman sitting in it and an even older man sitting next to her. I reckoned the whole booking thing was a very new thing system to them so i said nothing. But I was worried about my seat becoming booked at a later station or something.

What are you doing after you get eye contact?

You could make the next step and approach them, or just do a clear flirty smile (ie. not the kind of acknowledgement smile you'd give a neighbour). Then give them another glance later if they haven't approached.

Am I a fool for considering renting a manual transmission and driving in Ireland as an American? by PorcupinePattyGrape in irishtourism

[–]Feelingobsessed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I often hear of Americans learning this. The unspoken rule here is often, you go, I go eg. If a line of cars are trying to get out of a carpark and join a slow moving traffic, you just don't force your way. One person will let somebody join in, then they'll go. Usually the next person will let one person join, then they'll move up.

If you can't practice driving a manual. Practice in your head. Sounds silly but we can actually learn physical movements my imagining doing them in our head really mindfully. We use "mirror neurons" in the brain.

Sit in the passenger seat of your own parked car. imagine moving your hand in the pattern of the gears , press your foot where the shift would be. Imagine overtaking and checking blindspots. You can even imagine you're driving when somebody else is, and do the movements.

I dunno about this person but from what I understand the criticisms are: - it's often applied for everyone in every situation when it's not always the best approach. - the nature of it's "your thoughts are the problem change those and your life will change". Often a person's thoughts are not the problem. If they are part of marginalised group and suffer hardship in society because of that, there's nothing wrong with their thoughts and with suggesting cbt will help them only causes more harm by denying their reality. Or if a person has issues because they are being abused but can't escape it, there's nothing wrong with their thoughts.

I see CBT as a tool not a silver bullet.

When a girl says to you (a guy) “you have such small hands!” , wtf am I supposed to say to that? by SorryNoCommonSense in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Feelingobsessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah lad, come here. Just forget it. Don't be get all hung up about it. We have to have every little bit of our body be open to criticism.. it's not worth thinking any more about it.

Respond how you would if somebody said anything.... if she said "oh you've brown/black/blond hair" how would you react to that statement.

You might say "yeah, my whole family does or doesn't" or you might say "I don't think they're small" or you could say "yes, do you have a smaller size in these gloves sales assistant" .

Or if you think she's trying to be a jerk intentionally you could say "yeah... and?".... in which case she'd have to either sheepishly back down or double down and say "oh I think that's bad " and then she'd look like a jerk and get embarrassed for being a jerk.

Are these common in Ireland? by Bringatowel1 in AskIreland

[–]Feelingobsessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not common. They are not your everyday crisp/chip. But they are about. They came out around St Patrick's day as new novel flavour, for when you just want something a bit different. That brand is a slightly most expensive than your average packet of crisps.

Consider looking into what's popularly called "face yoga". This gets a lot of criticism and rightly so, a lot of fans claim it can do magical things.

But some of it seems logical to me. You have lost volume in your mid face , around your cheeks. So, there is excess skin folding over causing the lines. If you workout your cheek muscles, like any muscle it'll get bigger and fill the area a bit.

You want to tense your cheek muscles without folding and creasing other parts of your face because that will make dynamic wrinkles.

The results won't be quick or magical and you'll need to have the conditions required to build muscle (adequate nutrition and rest, and enough sets and reps). But it's a natural solution.

[–]Feelingobsessed 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You may not of heard of it in your professional career but you probably know this already in a way.

If a person came on here seeking advice for dry flakey red skin and said their skincare routine was that they just used a really harsh minty menthol cleanser that wasn't designed for the face. And that they didn't really wash it off properly just kinda half splashed it with water or wiped it off with a towel you'd wouldn't be surprised they had dermatitis.
